I just got a RM510 for christmas and have a couple questions: is there a way to get road names to show up on the map? They all pop up at the bottom of the screen but not always on the map. I am on street view also. I really need the gps for when im in a city and im trying to find a shipper. From what i researched the truck gps dont show all the street names but im just double checking.

Outside of using my phone gps im new at this...Why does it try to make you turn around on little allies that my pick up truck couldnt make it down? I was on state routes and truck leagal roads in western Pa and it was telling me to turn around on side streets that i couldnt go down if i wanted too. Then it told me to go left turn on the left of the screen but the map showed a right turn...the map was correct.

Then the speed limit and eta froze but the map part was still working. I turned it off and back on and it was fine again.

I love the features but the maps are alitte less impressive

I thought about returning this and trying a Cobra 5550 but i dont know if that would be any better.

I am new to this and before i get mad and return it i just want to see if im being too picky...thanks

As with any new electronic device it takes a little while to get used to any feature. What you expect it to do and what it will do are two different things. Make sure you have gone through all the settings under preferences and truck tools/truck info and warnings.

    Thanks,

If you decide to return the Rand McNally unit, I would recommend you look at the Garmin Dezl line over the Cobra models.

From what few drivers I have spoken to, that have cobra products, they are less than impressed with them.

I have a Garmin 560LT unit. It is a replacement of the RM units I once had. I like this unit, it works well, has a number of similar features to the TND product.

autozoom is turned off and i have u turns turned off but it wants me to drive around the block to turn around and there is no way you could do it in a truck.if im on leagal roads and going a shorter quicker route than it said to go why does it want me to turn around? Luckily i knew where i was and ignored it lol Im not worried about the freezing problem right now cause it only did it once. This map with street names has me concerned as we deliver to alot of little towns and cities

Look on the map screen towards the right and you should see a "+/-" icon. What distance does it show?

Where are you not seeing the street names?

Try changing your truck info to 48' trailer and 96" wide. You might be on Non-STAA roads and have 53' set which is STAA.

    Thanks,
    Mark
