Efficiency went out the trailer when manboy was hired. Backtracking and waiting and waiting and waiting. Hurry up and wait and wait with his routing. So much patience to be tolerated. It's just not working out for him. We all tried. Money is nice, But common sense says other wise. Bordem sets in, Collecting hours no thanks, we werent killing routes before and we all agree this is just absurd waiting. It's just poor planning. Manboy isn't right for the company. Screwing with our normal hometime:biggrin_2554:

    VERY INTERESTING OBSERVATIONS(not really LTL,but hey,its funny,)

    1. The sport of choice for the urban poor is BASKETBALL.

    2. The sport of choice for maintenance level employees is BOWLING.

    3. The sport of choice for front-line workers is FOOTBALL.

    4. The sport of choice for supervisors is BASEBALL.

    5. The sport of choice for middle management is TENNIS.

    And...

    6. The sport of choice for corporate executives and officers is GOLF.

The amazing facts are, The higher you go in the corporate structure, the smaller your balls become.

There must be a boat load of people in Washington playing marbles.

So, the good news is, it looks like I"m going to get to keep this eastern colorado/nebraska route. (easy easy, 600-800 cases not even a half full truck, pays better than two locals) for at least a while.

    bad news is two fold.
    1. a guy from our terminal got caught up in that latest wreck (the fiery one) in wyoming. he's ok, but the truck burned to the ground (full load of product). I know him, been driving 18 years. his mbm career is probably toast (hopefully not)
    2. my work is still messed up. Drive in yesterday. (7 hours back, side story call a guy on a car (CTS-V) guys says "i'm in far northeast colorado". Hey so am I right now, we were literally 10 miles apart. Can you show it right now? So he did and I took a lunch break. (no real hurry on getting back).) Anyway, get back in and the supervisor says "how many hours do you have left for today?

    ummm 4, 4.5?

Can you go pick up a back haul, someone forgot it, and we can't find the paperwork to even know who was supposed to go pick it up? (really?)

    Sure, where is it?

    Fort Morgan.

I was just there an hour ago. (go look at a map). Really? no one could have called me an hour ago? This is why we're losing money. In fact, why isn't it on my route? I'm the only one driving thru there?

So, 88 miles out, 88 miles back, 6 pallets of cheese. Another $100 for the day (which makes my measly 600 case route pay over $625 for two days).

off today, then back to New Mexico for regular route th/fri/sat morning. Anything that keeps me off wyoming I-80. Jeez, what is going on up there? scary

80 not bad brotha! Welcome to my world. Then again we've had 2 major accidents for my company there this year. Our drivers never wreck up there. Been a bad year. It's been a easy winter except this last month. We were getting sent on 70 the whole time cause of potential road closures. Was brutal last week in the mountains. A lot of that stuff happened during the day when all the yahoos and daylight 9-5ers are awake. They run nose to tail. Port officer told me that what's mostly causes the accidents drivers driving like 4wheelers. If your fellow driver gets fired I'm sure he can get on with us. We are hurting for line drivers and we do 2nd chance hiring especially with that experience and he was likely just in the wrong spot at the wrong time. Glad it's all cleared up.

This basically being on call thing kinda sucks right now, but good things come to those who wait, right?

    what a clusterfudge

I noticed the reefer was running 34 and 50 degrees instead of minus 10 and 34 degrees
I bought it up to the night super and he said "nah, it's ok" (without even looking at it)

not ok (like duh, no #####)
    total load lost
406 miles and I ended up back at the terminal (which i never should have left) The cooler was easily 60 degrees inside by the time I got backed in again. .

and I have to run the same route starting one day late

    won't that be fun
    weekend, what's a weekend?
    fudge

On the plus side, I wrote EVERYTHING down and had it turned in and signed BEFORE i left.
    My ##### is covered.

I'm at a small terminal and was offered a start time but turned it down to stay on the flex board. They offered me a 1000 start time and where I sit on the flex board now 1000 is the latest I come it. I do come in earlier on a regular basis, including early mornings to work inbound freight, which is what I want because I get off at a decent time. Having a 1000 standard start time would drive me completely nuts!
