Its such a happy life when an irate home owner calls to report that my liftgate left scratches in their driveway. They were the ones that demanded we pick up their freight at their residence, not their business location. At least my dispatcher backed me up, but I was still told to be more careful next time.

Their crap gets dropped at the curb. Karma's not a nice lady sometimes. -
Yeah, I have one tomorrow that demands inside delivery to the point of refusing to sign, if I don't. Except its not in the instructions (on the BOL) anywhere, and they can't understand why I refuse to do it.

Gearjammin' Penguin Thanks this.

Anyway, I dot there today and they were all smiles and happy to see me. Never questioned not putting the freight inside. Just signed and wished me a good day.
I think something is going on with them.Mike2633 Thanks this. -
Well, my day just ground to a halt.
I'm trying to get a piece off that's as wide as the trailer, and if this takes long enough I'll be looking at 5 returns and two missed pickups.
I hope nobody in the office thinks I care.Big Don, misterG, Bob Dobalina and 1 other person Thank this. -
I took a piece of equipment to a shop one time. Some type of huge wood working tool, don't remember what it was. But my trailer was never even opened at our dock, this thing was loaded at the manufacturer, wherever that was. Anyway, it had shifted to the point of being a real PITA.
I saw it as soon as I got the door (part way) open. Due to the shift, the piece was blocking the door runners, and the door wouldn't open. But in looking inside, it was obviously going to be a night mare.
I went to the customer and said "we've got a big problem here." He came out with me and said, no, WE don't have a problem. YOU have a problem. You can see where this is going.
Anyway, after a three way conversation with the office, where the customer was told, "look, here is the way it is. The driver can drop the trailer, and you guys figure out how to unload it, or the driver can bring the thing back to the dock and we will return it to the shipper, with instructions to "fix the problem."
I guess they needed it pretty bad, because I dropped the trailer and bobtailed back to the dock. A few days later, I picked up the empty trailer, and fully expected to see it trashed, at least the door and roller tracks. But somehow, they managed to get that thing out without doing much damage. -
Did you open the door to look at it before you tried to deliver it?
-
Nope. Should have though.
