Break down 3 times a week, uhhh that's going to be a problem these trucks are quirky yes, but hard break downs, with tow trucks usually not so much although they do struggle at times when it comes to pulling doubles so maybe management will like that?

My truck is 11 years old and I've been driving it for 10.
That's why I get a real kick out of these guys that throw a fit when they're told they can't have every new truck that comes through the gate. -
Why the hell would you even WANT a new truck? New trucks look nice, and smell nice, but they all have bugs that need to be worked out. I guess if you're hourly, it doesn't matter, but if you income depends on those wheels turning, your better off with a truck that somebody else has already taken care of those problems.

....And quite a few problems there are, with these new emission controls and automatic transmissions they're buying now. I see the newer trucks in the shop more than the old ones.
Bob Dobalina and Mike2633 Thank this. -

Lucky you. Frito's ditching all their manuals. Everything is either a Volvo Ishift (diesels) or Eaton Ultrashift autocrap (CNG's). Our older CNG trucks had Allison's which are much better than the Eaton autos in every respect except fuel mileage. We only have 4 manual transmission tractors left on the yard, and they're all over a million miles each and still go out daily. 2007 Volvo VN's, D12 and Eaton 10spd. Can't kill 'em, except I think parts are starting to dissolve from the body rust.
