Hay guys, I know a few of my fellow Buckeyes reside here... got questions... for you, and maybe anyone that cares to answer. @Mike2633 and @Bob Dobalina ... maybe @F150Jim knows too?

Within the state of Ohio, can you NOT get endorsements on your CDLP? (must be new; I'm old... if so..)
And if NOT, how can one train in our lovely state, for say FoodService or LTL (or even tanks!) without said endorsements?!!?
I've got a friend going to RM in CMH and the DMV told him that since he can't have endorsements on his permit, he can only train in a box or reefer. Do you know this to be true nowadays?!? I still think there actually SHOULD be an endorsement for flatbed, but that's another whole topic of discussion. @Gunner75 ... do you know of such a law with CDLP?
Thanks guys; didn't know where else to post it, kinda ran it statistically.
Any and all input would be great~

I just spoke with my wife who used to manage our local BMV officer in Shelby county. And the BMV officer is correct, you can not add the endorsements until he has the actual license. He can take the tests then save the results for when he goes to get his full license

    misterG and G13Tomcat Thank this.

I don't know if it's an old rule, or if it's because I got my CDL in Indiana, but I got my endorsements at the time of getting my permit. But that was 14 years ago...

See?~? Yep.. I got mine at CDLP time, in '03, right here in Ohio. Maybe we just missed the deadline. Same time frame.

    Bob Dobalina Thanks this.

Got mine in '97 in Utah. Got all endorsements at the same time. No passenger endorsement though. I'm just not that masochistic!

Yep, also there was no TSA background check for Hazmat at the time. They had yet to implement those hoops.
