That story from RR reeks of the worst kind of favoritism, with absolutely no thought given to operational efficiency.

    Intolerable, in my view.

Exactly. More drivers doing the work means more freight gets back to the yard sooner, which is better for everyone.

I get a kick out of alleged "managers" who can't see past their own nose".

This is beyond stupid, how many unsatisfied customers does Reddeway have? I know Holland here in the east has more freight then they can handle due mainly to huge price reduction measures, but do these shippers get angry at this ridiculous service or do they not really care or do send there non-important shipments with the big carriers and then send there expensive better shipments with the better carriers like Dayton Freight and A. Duie Pyle out here in the east.

    Bob Dobalina Thanks this.

I hear ya. We were short handed last week and even though we were slammed the driver who doesn't like to work late was gone by 1700 while other drivers had to work 14 hour days. And guess who cries about not making enough money.

I hate construction site deliveries. No one can habla or knows which contractor it is for.

I have tried to explain this same concept to my "management" too. I might as well #### in a bucket and call it bean stew.

@road_runner, the solution is simple. You go home when you want to go home.

You are ALLOWING them to do this. No one and I mean no one would have worked that, the trucking company (any company) doesn't give a good gosh darn about you. Not at all.

    Return the favor.
I work hard, after 10 hours I"m going home.
Nope, sorry out of hours (out of give a darn, but same thing)

You have the leverage, they don't. They can't get anyone else, you can get a job tomorrow,

STOP BEING A DOORMAT. Things will improve.

There's an issue though. Mrs. Road Runner is pregnant, and raising children is expensive.

Mr Roadrunner has a perfect CDL and has been at the same job for 5 years.

He's got a golden ticket, he doesn't have to leave, but he has to act like he could.

Sorry, done for the day, have things to do.

Trucking ALWAYS needs more of you, you have to learn to say "no"

They send me twice (in a big 6' sleeper road tractor) to this little tiny terminal. It's old and insanely busy. There is not much room to move around at all, even the guys in little tractors have a tough time. But the yard guy puts the empties in about the one spot you can get them. So, second trip there, drop my loaded, break it down, put the dolly in place, grab the lead, hook the dolly and push back.

wait ,that went way too far
    What the ??????

    get out and go look

    oh, son of a boobear

high hooked (more likely side hooked it, but same result)

crank crank crank crank. (i've done this before, you would think I would learn)

get it undone. ,put it down way low (see, i do learn) and bang, hooked. hook up the lines and turn in the paperwork and off we go.

    25 minutes

yeah, including the high hook in a really really tight yard.

ain't making money if the wheels ain't turning.
