So i got a call from New Penn to come in for an interview. I honestly forgot i putt an app in their, its been like 3-4 months i thought they decided not to look at me. 5-6 guys looking to retire. I make good money where im at now (1600-1900 avg) but no benefits or health insurance and im gone 2-3 weeks at a time in a hotel.

New Penn says they only start at 18.xx/hr and tops out 21. That seems real low for Ltl but the normal schedule, not being on call 24/7 and free health insurance are making me take a hard luck. Not even looking at pension i don't trust that at all. And 5-6 guys retiring i could move up quick. I imagine its a small barn (scranton-wilkes barre).

What you guys think? Im thinking get the f out of the oilfield

My opinion, I would take the job and get that regular schedule and health insurance-as long as you can pay your bills on the $21 an hour. You could always apply for a higher paying LTL gig after you get some LTL experience.

I would too were I in his position. New Penn certainly isn't a bad place to work.

That pay scale is considerably less than ours, but one must also bear in mind that they're in a smaller town up that way. That does have a bearing on iy.

I only noticed it in the cab for a couple of minutes then it faded away until I stopped again. It was mainly focused at the rear of the front trailer and dolly and stayed strong even after washing them. I ditched that dolly before heading out on my 2nd run.

@Brettj3876 tired of the oilfield? Man, I wish I could get back in, but I can't lose my benefits. Never heard much either way about New Penn, but I'm sure old Lenny boy would love to have you back at Willow! ;-)

I hope you will forgive me for intruding in this thread again, but I wanted to ask a question. My formerly disabled son got his CDL in January and has been working for an LTL company for 3 months now. Last night he was on an interstate and moved into the left lane to try to pass someone. He was never speeding at any time. He saw what he thinks was a police car coming up, so he moved back over to the middle lane. When the car passed him the driver rolled down his window and there was some kind of flash directed at his truck (not sure if it was at the truck or trailer and I probably won't be able to ask him for more details because he'll be leaving for work before I get home today). He was not pulled over (being in the left lane would have been the only thing he could have been pulled over for). Before I left for work this morning, he said he would appreciate it if I would try to do some looking around about that, but I am having no luck with random internet searches. This whole thing sounds odd to me. Would a legitimate police vehicle behave this way? Can anyone let me know if he might be in any kind of trouble? If you're going to get in trouble, don't the police have to pull you over? Thanks for any insight (previous advice has been very helpful) and sorry again for intruding, since I'm not an LTL driver myself.
