I'm jealous. Heading down to Louisville from Dayton last night, I saw a few wrecked cars and a jackknifed truck on 75 in Cincinnati due to the rain. I got through all that unscathed, but after the split I had to detour around a wreck that caused them to shut down the southbound side of 71 in Kentucky.

After getting back on 71 I then saw a nasty multiple truck wreck on the northbound side, but traffic was moving through without much of a backup. Sure enough, when I was coming back north from Louisville they had the northbound side shut down for that and had another slow detour through the woods. Shortly after getting back on 71 North, I saw the remains of the SB truck rollover from earlier, which was actually from a NB truck crossing the median and flipping. It was one of the worst I've ever seen. That truck driver couldn't have survived.

It took me 12 hours to get 500 miles with 4 d/h's, but needless to say I was grateful to just make it through another week alive. My thoughts and prayers are with that driver's family.

Ok, people do 95mph in the morning on the way to work. but Friday night of a holiday weekend, at night when you know they are off? No, getting passed by my poor neutered truck going uphill loaded.

Why are you all going so slow????????????????

    arrrggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Ran my tail off. 6 turns to close terminals (either 53's or sets one way or the other) Plus I actually started loaded up here. I made bank but I'm old. :)

I was actually lapping people. They would get their hook slips before me and go get their trailers to leave the hub. They would either leave first or I would, I would get to the 2nd terminal first, have my set hooked and leaving before they even had their set hooked, and I would have my next set hooked and leaving at the hub before they had broken down their set from the 2nd place.

You can how I can tell who is paid hourly and who isn't?

I was thinking this morning after hooking up a 53 (which I rarely pull) and driving off. remember when you first started driving a truck and every time you went around a corner, you were working the mirrors hard, making sure you didn't hit anything etc.

And after a few years, you barely check. you KNOW where that trailer is. (esp if you have assigned trucks). Unless i'ts really tricky or tight, it's just eh, driving.

You can run a turnpike set up 190, they're legal in Canada I believe, although they run double 53's up there. Triples are illegal anywhere in NY, for some reason.

I'll add to your list of turnpike outfits... Pepsi, BBX, Wegmans, Hannaford, UPS, NEMF, Price Chopper, Sysco, McLane, DOT Foods, Gypsum Express, Walmart, Stroehmann Linehaul (bread), Quality Carriers, Foodliner. Those are just the ones I see regularly, there are quite a few more. You can run a set without breaking from Buffalo to Boston, but to go west you have to break at the PA line and single across to the OH Turnpike.

I could handle that. But we don't do much of that side of life. 90% of our freight is solar powered only. And I sat in Memorial Day traffic for another driver.
I said no, last week, when dispatch asked me to forgo my Friday off, but I could still have Thursday. I opted not to. I put in notice for this time off 6-weeks ago. And I need to look at my calendar to determine what days I want off for deer season.
Rather spend my off time at home doing nothing but Honey-Do work. ( I even did some of that too).

The PA turnpike is worthless for specialized equipment and sets. Actually the entire state of PA is worthless for any kind of more then one trailer operation. PA was the last state in the country to approve doubles. They did not want to approve doubles at all, but they were strong armed into it by CF and the Federal Government. What happened was CF wanted doubles in PA and PA said nope. So CF went to the government and the government said make doubles legal or were pulling money for the roads and some other stuff. PA went Yep you can have your doubles. PA was very backwards when it comes to things like combination vehicles.

Well everyone have off today? No me neither. Had an over night from Pitt-Cleveland. 50' trailer for a 7000lbs load.

Could have fit the load in a straight truck and still had room for 2 pallets.

Anyhow got to Cleveland unloaded quick and got back to Pittsburgh by 7:00am I was very worn out because my sleep was all screwed up. Slept a good 8-9 hours today so I'm ready to go for tonight's over night run. 3 stops Cleveland, Canton and Back Haul at a cheese company.

Drawing Holiday and Support pay so putting bucks on the pay check.

Eatting Diner at Red Lobster right now. If your single you can eat at the bar that's how you can go to restaurants as a single person. Instead of having to order Dominos and eat in the pArking lot. Not that I know anything about that...
