Very funnyI was there today. Had a late start though, me and 2 other drivers had to wait for available tractor at the yard. Hahaha
We will have another bid call next week. I'm #56 on the city driver list so my chances of getting 5am start are very slimI was schocked to see 8 drivers under me. Gotta stick with the 2pm/on call bid for now shrug
Mike2633 Thanks this. -
Do you have to stop at the gas station on the way home from work and break a dollar so you have quarters for the week to use the banana phone at McLane?
How do you like FedEx Freight? I once applied to work there, a while ago, but it didn't come true and there terminal is a little ways away from where I live anyhow, so no biggie. -
As for FXF it's not too bad, the potential to make money is there, but management at least at my hub is hit or miss. I find it funny that drivers have to wait couple hours for a truck before we can go anywhere.it happens quite often lately. Managers know that we are short on trucks, but they don't do anything about it. All newer tractors are automatic and they are horrible at pulling up the hill. Automatic = snoozefest. Our dock could be a little bit more bigger too since the amount of freight we are getting now is insane. In the long run I would probably switch to linehaul. Most drivers are very helpful and willing to help here. Even the ones that I met at the meet point during road run were friendly.Mike2633 Thanks this. -
Companies that ship things on anything resembling a regular basis are one thing, but super-small businesses or residences have absolutely no idea what's involved. They think it's like FXG, you just throw it on the truck and go. It can be frustrating, but just remember the days when you were a new driver and didn't know crap from cornflakes. These people aren't stupid, they're just ignorant.
None of us knows everything about everything. Have patience.Mike2633, LoneCowboy, misterG and 1 other person Thank this. -
I ran into that problem a few times when picking up from inexperienced shippers. Luckily my company has tools on their website to generate a BOL and we can educate them real quick as to how to fill it out. -
