I really lucked out here. Non union shop so seniority isn't the end all be all and all of the management here is from UPS. I'm a retired UPS driver so I have kinda been treated like the golden boy ever since I showed up since they know what I am capable of and how to deal with me already. They really do stuck to seniority when it comes to trucks tho....I get whatever is left lol.

I run doubles when I shuttle because I bounce between five of our places to move inventory around. We are independent of coke also...I think everyone is now... could be wrong tho. We do all of Florida except the panhandle so they keep me moving.Mike2633 Thanks this.

I work for GFS do you ever see any of our slow transit doubles at night driving in the slow lane.? You probably pass them, like they are standing still.FlaSwampRat Thanks this.

See I’d like to have a job like you have, the one week I was on night shuttle and two weeks I was on night volume were the most fun I had at work. Management knows it too, but I have to do what’s available and day time delivery routes are the most common, one of the reasons I stick around is to one day go on night shift, but as for now I’m busy running cases all day.The Shadow, dwells40 and FlaSwampRat Thank this.

I don't pass a whole lot of people lol. I don't exactly have access to any trucks with real power and I'm new to hauling doubles so I just take it easy. I don't want to have to make any quick braking or steering inputs because I'm not sure how the rear trailer will like it.Mike2633 Thanks this.

Hey any Old Dominion drivers headed to the Cleveland, Old Dominion terminal Canal Road is closed to north bound traffic.
I saw a set of doubles from out of town get all tripped up trying to make a left hand turn and then realizing they couldn’t.FlaSwampRat Thanks this. -
Right right: no Corrosive UN #s cuz it's not technically "bulk" and the "Type B" is super important on the 5.2 stuff because it requires refrigeration and will self-react and catch fire if it heats up (at least that's what a shipper told me at my old job when I asked why a couple hundred pounds required placards--I am not a scientist, nor do I play one on TV!). Since you didn't have Type B, you could use Dangerous to cover that stuff.
I used to haul that stuff in a reefer and it made me super nervous that the reefer unit could break down. That's the way I think of 5.2 these days: I'm at a real LTL company now that doesn't pull refers, so I never have to worry about the "placard any quantity" 5.2 stuff anymore because we don't/can't haul it.Last edited: Aug 15, 2019

I typed this on another page but I thought I would put it here too. Thanks again!
I’ve read every word of the LTL and food service rant pages and everything I could find on here on Saia, Ward, Central Freight, (the other one , not the yellow trucks), and Estes because they’re the closest to me. I’m going through AAA Cooper now and I’ll start looking at FXF, UPSF, and everyone else that’s on International Dr in Morrisville next. The food service companies will depend on who has a satellite yard close; all terminals are at least 2 hours from my house. TTR is an invaluable resource and I thank all of you who post and moderate it!!!SidewaysBentHalo, Bob Dobalina, FlaSwampRat and 6 others Thank this. -
