Now I really sound like my grandad, but do you remember back when we had to walk up hill both ways barefoot in the snow to school? Then we had to drive 10 speed spring ride trucks at work. Now we drive 18 speed and don’t give a dam* about much. How the times change.

I'm currently still stuck in that uphill both ways in the snow lol. 10spd spring ride international with no AC lol. I'm just telling myself whatever doesn't kill me only makes me stronger over and over again until I believe it lol.

Pulled into the pilot in Sturbridge for a coffee on my way back from the hub. Was approached by a driver that was conversational and he mentioned that he “Could never drive for FedEx Freight because I couldn’t stay governed at 65”.

Yeah, brilliant, homeboy. “Sorry honey, instead of bringing home $100k this year, I stayed at $70k because I needed to roll at 70mph”. Gmafb.

It's a pretty simple mathematical equation. Max speed X cents per mile = maximum hourly driving wage.

Or if you're hourly... how slow can the truck go? Lol

But some people are into this more for the lifestyle than the money. I guess I always have to make an allowance for that. It doesn't make a #### bit of sense to me, but they're out there.

FlaSwampRat, Bob Dobalina and McUzi Thank this.

yeah those #### speed governors...the free benefits, home daily, <10 hr workday, free uniforms, 5 day week, no weekends, no holidays, pd vac, pd sick and $1900 weekly paychecks just can’t touch a 70+ mph truck.

i was in several ungoverned trucks early in my career. how i escaped without a speeding ticket is still a mystery.
