Hello all, i just got my 'A' liscense with tanker and doub/trips and am actively looking for any job that pays well

I am prequalified with Werner so far and i am still actively applying. I do have a supervised moving violation 2.5 years ago and 1 at fault accident 4.5 years ago. No prior driving experience with the rigs.

So I am asking all the truckers out there if you can rank the top ten best and worst companies (im about 60 miles west of chicago) that would be awesome of you all, I dont want to get mixed in with a bad companythats just gonna screw me. Thanks all!

Are you serious? OK... I'll play along!

The best company? The one that will hire you & allow you to gain real road experience & prove your worthiness in the trucking industry.

The worst company? The one that won't hire you.

If I was just starting out, I would jump onto who ever wanted me. Then while your on the road getting real life experience you'll have a better chance to look at other companies, talk to their driver's, & see what would be the best fit for you.

Every company has bad & good. Please remember everything that you may see in these forums or other forums are one sided. You don't see the company in here telling their side. Plus what doesn't work for Joe Blow just may be your cup of tea. Each individual is different & desires different needs. Just don't be expecting the world to be handed to you. Trucking is just like every other job. You have to work your way up from the ground proving yourself along the way. Only after you have proved yourself & gained appropriate experience, then you can slowly begin being picky. And in the economy we have now it is better just to keep your mouth shut & do what is asked of you... That advise also goes for the ones who have years of experience, they are finding out that right now is not the best time to nick pick over stupid stuff.

as REDD said.. get your experience, then go company surfing. Werner (from what i've heard, i've never worked there) isn't the greatest, but if they will take you, get your experience there and move along if you don't like it. By asking what is the best and worst, you're only going to get hearsay. Everyone has a different experience with every company. For me, I would say Millis Transfer is the best company out there, but that is only because I work there and they haven't lied to me at all or screwed me over.. Some may think Werner is the best company because they haven't been lied to or screwed over there.. it just depends what you are looking for. Good Luck!!

I did 3 months w/ transport america out of eagan mn. they have a terminal in janesville wisc. and north liberty ia. so they were close for me...

I stayed three months to get my cherry popped... then started hauling fuel locally for more money... stayed there a year until the business folded/ was bought out.

now work for questliner... wooohoooo best job I've ever had...

my point, go anywhere to get on and get some seat time... don't crash the truck...

then start looking for what and who you want to be with... and what it takes to meet qualifications...

and remember : qualifications are negotiable... provided the company needs a driver in your location and you present yourself as the solution to their problem.

that's why they are hiring you... not because you need a job... but because they need work done...
