I have 2 friends that drive for Swift and one has been with them for 4yrs. Yes 4yrs. The other is just starting out and loves it. Sees a lot of the NE. I'd like to know what happened to comfort zones?
One yr ago I was ready to ditch college but with the economy going into the crapper, I decided not too and haven't regretted it. My top three were:
Crete
Roehl or SNI (tie)
US Xpress or Swift (tie)
I had Crete at the top because of their reputation, regional and safestat score. Roehl and SNI were tied because they had more expensive school and made you sign a doc saying you were going to be here for this amount of time. US Xpress and Swift were tied because of their rep on drivers.
I took five things into account when doing research;
Equipment
Miles
Safety
Family situation
Future goals
With US Xpress, I probably could have gotten local (think Orlando area as they run Columbia day cabs) per their website said they had something like regional but who knows. With Swift, Roehl, or SNI I would be out min 4 weeks as FL is a one way state. However, due to me being n a rut with my family, I choose college because of the offer from my dad. In then end when I graduate from college, I might try to get prehired at McClane food service; however, I heaer they are real strict on taking newbie's per a driver.
I told member one member who lives near me to go the local truckstop and ask around. Some will ignore you, others will welcome you and talk and finally; others will refuse to make a comment.
