My cousin and i were debating about what is "good" money and what is not.. Example.. I am a owner operator that work five days and week and home every night pulling rail containers from Chicago to the Wisconsin area. On the weekend, i run quick loads to the Milwaukee area and back down to Chi which can average 220 miles round trip. The Load pays $295 and it is a 23% fuel surcharge to go with it. I only need 30 gallons to make the run # 3.24 a gal. Is that worth my time or as he would call it "you not making good money"
Rate per mile question..

imo, that's avg. money. it's not good, or horrible. probablly above your BEP though.
-
around a month ago everything out of a rail was paying $3 a mile.. im not pulling containers anymore so i dont know if that has changed..
-
in other words he just lazy?
-
-
So roughly its $362 a load or about $1.65 a mile, not bad but not all that good, $ 400 would be much better IMO. How long does it take you do a round.
midwestroller Thanks this. -
are you making a profit? are you happy with what you are making? happy being home every night? if so, why do you give a #### what somebody else thinks is "good money"?
-
Doesn't it depend on your own particular cost per mile? If you don't know your c.p.m how can you know what's profitable?
-
That wasn't the question..........

That may be good money to him.
But it is Not to me !!
