I’m a new O/O with a semi truck. If I lease onto a carrier and I haul containers driving 220 miles round trip, what’s the average rate I should charge? Anyone charging by the mile or by the load?

What are your total expenses? That’ll help you know what to charge.

If you lease onto a carrier, chances are you’re not charging anything. They’re paying you what they’re gonna pay you: you can take it or leave it/

Yep, and to answer the question one would need a lot more info anyway.

Definitely take the time to know your cost! As you get more experience you’ll discover hidden cost. When you add what you want to take home for the mile don’t sell yourself short…you should be paid as much as the best company drivers in your industry make. If you undercut your doing harm to you and the people in the business

I like to start my rates at $135 / hour for 100% steady work up to $165 / hour for random jobs.

By the day. I look at what I'm making a day.. no miles, hrs or any other measure considered.
