So the two dry van guys say it’s plenty flexible. This industry is more than dry van freight. I’m all for different hos rules for different segments, but that’s an enforcement nightmare

“Plenty flexible” like when I’d use a couple hours to pause my 14 on a day I’m coming home and would end up logging sleeper with my truck parked in my driveway to finish out the break, and then going out in the morning and switching it from sleeper to off duty for the rest of the weekend?

So is making more exceptions and expanding splits.

Day cabs already have a 16 hour exemption, why do they need more? Split logs are already a thing and were made more flexible 4 years ago.

For every time HOS has been a pain in my ### it's also stopped dispatch from abusing me.

There could be no ability to pause the 14 and then you'd get home a day later.

I’m not interested in arguing it with you. It’s good for me. I understand if you don’t see it the same way. That ok. I’m not here to change your mind or anyone else’s.

I would say for general dry van, reefer and flatbed freight, the current 7/3 and 8/2 is great and more is not needed. However I can see specialized freight needing some more flexibility.

Walmart doesn't allow splitting, the drivers can't work more than 6 days before getting 34 reset.
The only receiver is Walmart...Completely different animal. And they have flatbeds too.

Who cares about what Wal-Mart does and doesn't do... they make up less than 1% of truck drivers. In fact Nobody cares about mega companies and their draconian company policies... more flexibility in elogs is a fantastic thing for the vast majority of the industry.... Just because Wal-Mart or Swift or cr England or whatever mega tard company doesn't let your drive the speed limit or log split logs doesn't mean that everybody that does those things is bad... quit drinking the kool aid

Me personally Im interested in the 6/4 and 5/5 .. I think it would work much better for me.. Like @ElmerFudpucker mentioned about having curfews thru metro areas.. I don't do a whole lot of oversize mostly over length only but even we have curfews thru cities that are annoying af and hard to time with elog breaks and daylight hours restrictions... more flexibility in split sleepers would help that out... but I guess because Wal-Mart or Swift doesn't have these problems then they dont exist

Meanwhile the drive by folks who don't care about any regulations are laughing hard. And you should really be concern, they are the real problem, not Walmart or Swift.

hope not dumb twucker Thanks this.
