Just called on a load posted for $1500, broker said hold on let me reach out to my customer.
Calls me back and says best shipper can do is $1000.
I said why did your post it for $1500 if you're not going to honor that?
Broker said "I wanted to see if anybody would call if I posted it for $1500 even though I can't do $1500"

    :homework:

I've been noticing used trucks parked with for sale signs during my travels lately.

That’s real smart of him. Now who’s going to call him when he actually has a load for $1500? I guess the brokers want to go out of business in a hurry also.

Between that and the ######## who don’t even let you ask a question about other loads after the one you call about was taken.

He couldn't get anyone to move it for cheap so he posted a fake rate to get somebody to call in to hopefully fool them.

Brokers do all shorts of BS to get you to call in.

Last week I called on a TQL load posted in Birmingham, AL perhaps the best flatbed market there is.
Load had a posted rate rate slightly aboven the rest to get me home.
Call in and broker tells me the load is actually located 200 miles away from Birmingham in opposite direction of where load going.
In other adding hundreds of miles onto the trip.

Same thing again when I asked why posting that far from actual location, answer to get people to call in.
I did not haul that load.
Waste of time thanks to broker games.

I could understand pointing in different areas to get more exposure especially if load is far from truck traffic but at least put actual location under load comments in posting.

They play these games on purpose. It's a great way to test lane rates.

Had a broker offer me load from Midwest to New England area about 850 miles or so for $3600. Heavy/tarps.

I told her nope, I ran this lane recently for way higher than that. Thanks for the offer though.
She then said I move these all the time for $4k.

I said right now there's similar loads on the board for $5000-$6000 and if you move these all the time for $4000 why are you reaching out to me?

    That ended that conversation lol.

I don’t know what rates are currently since I stopped looking at the board almost two months ago but I can say that that type of stuff happens even when the market is on our side.
