And all those surrendering their authority hasn't helped the load to truck ratio either .

    Auction prices dropping quick

Yep. I’ve watched some of the hearings on YouTube when I’ve been bored. They definitely lost a fair amount of younger employees over it. But the big wigs just sit there and say that a single person crew will be perfectly safe.

There’s no evidence that they’ve sold their truck, only that they’ve given up their authority. It’s likely quite a few simply leased onto a carrier with contract freight.

    Because they are cheap.
The only ones that pay anything requires you to have TWIC & Hazmat.

About how much per mile are they paying now?

I spoke to a guy few weeks ago who says he has a couple O/O friends that hauled containers out of ports in LA and supposedly they grossed $400K the last year (during a hot freight market). I took it with a grain of salt since I know most people fudge their numbers, and who knows how hard they ran, pretty sure they maxed out hours whether it was short haul within 150 miles radius or regional.

    South-midwest-Northeast.

I don't out west because it's too cheap but whenever I look, yup still cheap.

Freight around Detroit is scarce. It’s usually tight, but this looks like 08-09. The rates in or out are low. Hard to find anything worth the time invested. $700 short trips, $2.80 pm. netting $450 after fuel are a waste of time. Laredo posted for $2700, on 1600 miles. Run yourself and equipment into the ground quickly doing that.
