It's always the fuel prices, how about the cheap rates?

The record high fuel prices are not the problem causing the current hardship of carriers - they have nothing to do with it. The problem is that too few want to quit!

Fuel cost is always reflected in the rates, whether you realize that or not.
If the diesel price were set at $0.99 per gal, the national dry van average would be at ... $1.35 - 1.50 or so(?), and the margin of the profitability would remain exactly the same.
Too much capacity per too small freight volume is the answer to their dilemma.
    You want better rates?
You need to convince the American public to increase their spending propensity or else convince your fellow truck owner operators, transportation carriers, CDL workers, to seize down operations, so there is more freight left for you. Freight volume is the only answer as to why they pay so cheap.. The more freight volume, the more work and the better rates.

Go ahead, convince me not to book any freight, so that you can have a better rate, while I remain dormant and live off my savings or go and find a different kind of work...
Trying to convince everyone not to book cheap is not going to work.

I love these threads. It’s like watching a dog chase it’s tail. I chuckle a little.

It's supply and demand. Fuel supply , price, doesn't dictate the price of the load. It definitely affects what I'll run the load for.
