I do my local hourly, becomes a pain trying to figure out miles when you have days you may only do 50-200 miles. Chew up drives and brakes a lot quicker too. Still hard to get exact when you swap back and forth, but I’d rather round up slightly and be prepared then exact/low and get caught with my pants down somewhere.
actually I “adjust” my running cost for the road too for the same reason
Rates are crashing and fuel to the moon!

I've been here long enough to know if I start disclosing a lot of personal details of my business then this while thread will be derailed with people trying to start a pissing contest and people trying to tell me how to run my business.
Regardless what I'd post anyway people wouldn't believe it anyway.
I'd bet you $100 that's how it would play out.
Before you make that bet check out my last thread where I made a comment about a bill I got and see how that played out.Rideandrepair Thanks this. -

Besides life isn't ALWAYS about every single nickel and dime.
I'm sure I'm not the only one that turned down a tarp load in 0 degrees and wind or a load that delivers in NYC at 9am even if by doing it would have made you more money that day.
Or simply taking an extra day off of work just because you feel like it.
Those things happen everyday by people which harm the bottom line just like when I decided for blow a few bucks that day.
The key is getting to a place where you don't feel pressured to work 24/7 and need every penny just to survive.
Or how about all the countless drivers that solely run cheap freight in the south during winter because they're too scared of the snow.
Drivers take losses in all different ways.
I freaking love Winter, even January & February because all the big money is in the cold states and I run it.Rideandrepair, brsims, D.Tibbitt and 2 others Thank this. -
