Rates are crashing and fuel to the moon!

Just fueled for $3.96/gal at the TA in Lebo, KS....

First time paying under $4/gal in a long time...

 

Can't blame you there. Many carriers just own the same brokerage they get the freight through so no need to Photoshop or do anything illegal. They got their extra cut that way but yeah, transportation is a very crudy business full of slimy people.

Either way, you don't seem very prepared or used to downturns in the market. It makes me question your 9 years of experience line. Respectfully speaking of course. There has been a few of these over the last decade some lasted a couple years. Blaming TQL or brokers shows your lack of understanding.

Instead of blaming others you should be doing the same thing they are when the market is in the carrier's favor. Run hard and raise your rates high with full accessorials. Make them pay. Then when I flips you take what you need to survive or sit/park it and work on your equipment instead of paying shops to do things you can do. You save and get primed and ready for the next boom.

This is how the spot market works, my friend. It's give and take. Complaining about normal business ebbs and flows in Transportation is like complaining about not being able to set concrete during the Winter when you own a construction company.

It's par for the course.

 

I myself am just amazed at the speed at which this fall has taken place. But we’re seeing things we’ve not seen before both within the industry and around the country.

I’m waiting to see how many guys fall out now thinking this was going to be “easy money” for the foreseeable future….

I’m almost 62. Been driving since ‘97. Yes, the writing has been on the wall. But it just strikes me that the fluctuations are more abrupt than in years past. Perhaps it’s just my perception. After having spent 15 years in radio, I had my fill of news, so I honestly don’t follow it that closely these days. I have enough going on.

 

I wasn't picking at ya... and I completely understand not listening to the news I don't pay much mind to it either only certain areas which effect my freight.. besides they are doing their best to spin this mess we got as a strong economic growth...( yeah right Joe ).. I was just curious is all
