I'm enjoying being an employee again too. So nice to know what my hiurs are. Being able to punch out and walk away having zero responsibilities for anything is very liberating.
Rates are crashing and fuel to the moon!

I tried two local jobs. One had a short commute but start point got changed. The hours 13 and 14+ hours plus 2 hour commute. If it was short 30 minute commute each way and 10 to 12 hour days I wouldn't have quit. Money isn't the biggest issue clearing 1k a week would be fine. Working 62 to 67 hours a week I was making around 1500 after tax which is nice, but time is more important at this point to me.Dave_in_AZ, blairandgretchen, Magoo1968 and 2 others Thank this. -
I worked for this guy at a major LTL 29 years ago. Last local job I had. Coincidentally the first job I called on. Turned down 2 others that paid $2 more per hour. Another that was $1 less per hr. but was a UAW job with great benefits, Rather work for this guy. He treated me well years ago. I took my Dad to the Company picnic, He was disabled, had to quit driving and passed about 6 mo.later. He had a great time shooting the bull with all the other retired Teamsters. Spent about 20 minutes talking to this guy. My Dad was surprised to find out he was the Terminal Manager. He asked if I knew him, and what a great guy he seemed to be. I agreed. That means a lot to this day. He’s still just as polite, humble and respectful as he ever was. I’d like to help him save some money if possible. Outside maintenance companies are expensive. Trucks are getting old. Good buying opportunities on the horizon. I just don’t want to be a know it all and try to change his company. No one likes that. I will get some tools and fix minor things though. Won’t be waiting on the shoulder to be rescued. Lol. Funny how things work out. Been meeting some good people lately. A $400 Saturday gig would be great. Lol. Got a few ideas. Too busy now catching up on vehicles of my own. Cleaning house. Selling Company hopefully within a couple weeks. I forgot to file IFTA. There threatening me with fines. I’m locked out as usual. Always takes a phone call to get in. IRP needs a copy of insurance. They didn’t get the original one I sent. Straighten everything out on Monday. Can’t wait to be done with it. Too much constant BS. Time is valuable these days. Wife’s happy I’m home every night. She hasn’t ran with me since February. It’s been a grueling year.blairandgretchen, Magoo1968, 77fib77 and 10 others Thank this. -
