It does not matter though. Market is so slow that there is a very limited amount of loads from CT to IL. So 3 people who take that cheap freight, get to go home and others get to keep staying on the road.
Also all the brokers and carriers know that you make money taking stuff from Midwest to Northeast, because on the way back you gonna be getting $1 per mile and it's been like that forever.
Like on Wednesday I took a load from Detroit to Providence, RI for $2900, which is $3.5 per mile, in comparison loads from Detroit to MN or WI go for $1.8 for example .
Spot market game is very different compare to what you do

I never could do sales when I had a truck. It is intimidating. Probably the worst part is rejection. Which is weird because there's a lot of rejection dealing with brokers. But there's very little invested into that rejection from freight brokers and it's much quicker/easier to score. Spot freight is like a drug addiction really. Same could be said for factoring and many other things that will drag a one truck or small fleet operation down.
