If I’m running hard it gets pretty messy in here. I appreciate it when it’s clean, but after a long day I just want to eat and got to bed.

yesterday was a long day. I was taking a alternate route around Tehachapi for reasons we don't need to talk about. And ran into a nice little fire that held me up for two hours. They had two big planes and two helicopters out there with about 10 firetrucks. From what I hear, they've had quite a few fires out here in Cali.

It is hard to keep it clean , muddy jobsites , dusty with lots of wind. I try to keep mine sorta clean during the week and give it a good housecleaning on the weekends if I can. Guys at work do make fun of me because no matter what time I wake up I always make my bed . We've had guys working here that never made the bed , probably never changed sheets .

Looks like another decent size brokerage is having troubles.

The mechanics here go through a set of boots within a year. Usually 8-9 months. Good quality boots. They claim it’s from working on the cement.

There's another one I won't be sad to see go. It's funny how a lot of the ones I remember as bad are having problems these days. Must not have just been me.

That's actually about par. Where I worked we had a yearly boot allowance. Usually the boot place would come to us with a display truck and outfit everyone, or we could go to the local Red Wing outlet to get a set of boots. Usually by the 8-9 months you mention, yes, they are already wearing out. Only boots that lasted more than a year were exceptional boots, or the wearers didn't really do anything to wear them out. :)

My boots also only last about 9 months. Part of it is how I stand - I carry most of my weight on the back of my heels which stresses the back seams. The other part is environment - walking through salty slush with a tinge of diesel every day is going to take a toll, as will knocking them on things/squating/cirque-du-soleiling-to-get-to-that-one-bolt. We can talk about caring for them - rinsing the outsides, treatments, etc - all day long. It might make them last a little longer, but I haven't found it's worth the effort. I have found getting two pairs and alternating makes a difference, but again only by a couple of months.

Now my shoes - they last forever. Primarily because if it looks like rain/snow/annoying-people, I'm just going to stay home.
