I knew a few of the DOT in northern wyoming pretty well as I was always on the bleeding edge of legal overweight tanker loads.

They told me a lot of the middle eastern/paki/indian crowd have one guy come over that speaks english kinda well and favors half a dozen other dudes, he gets his license, goes back to homeland, gets the license duplicated a dozen times then they ship over 20 people that are all Borat Sagdiyev. Then when they get popped, the DOT doesn't want to deal with them as they call the boss on the phone and hand the phone to the DOT. They get put out of service until the truck is towed and it turns into this massive hassle that ultimately goes nowhere because they aren't dealing with people with skin in the game.

Much easier to nail Bob Smith with his fancy social security number, real license, and Swift Trucking company employer. He can pay the fines or have a warrant issued and you can show up at his house with a blue uniformed legalized thug with a badge and a gun. Render unto caeser.... Unless you have a white volvo with a Super Ego trailer behind it. Or worse, a blue amazon trailer.

I like how there are exceptions. And the fact that dmv employees can be bribed. Just saying when there’s a will there’s a way.

    Non-Domiciled Commercial Driver's License
In certain circumstances, States are permitted to issue a CDL to an individual who is not domiciled within its jurisdiction. The word "Non-domiciled" must be prominently displayed on the CDL or CLP , but does not have to be contiguous with the words "Commercial Driver's License," "CDL", "Commercial Learner's Permit" or "CLP".

Non-domicile CDL means a CDL issued by a State under either of the following two conditions:

    • To an individual domiciled in a foreign country, other than Mexico and Canada, if the person obtained the license from a State, which complies with the testing and licensing standards required for CDL drivers.
    • To an individual domiciled in another State while that State is prohibited from issuing CDLs, if the person obtained the license from any State which elected to issue non-domiciled CDLs and which complies with the testing and licensing standards required for CDL drivers.

It's the American way, my friend. Most are here temporarily on work visas. Welcome to the "melting pot" where diversity is our strength. No other first world country on Earth gives their unskilled labor jobs away to foreigners. Until Nationalism is embraced it will never change.

We all remember the hype of the Driver shortage 15 to 20 years ago. All it was was a money shortage not a driver shortage. But now they have all these third world drivers out here doing it for literally nothing. And just like the government always does they cause it we have to live with it.

12 years ago it seemed like 20 to 30% of drivers were foreign. Now it seems like 75%. At least in the OTR world. Maybe it's just me. But it doesn't sound like it.

Once they start handing out work permits and drivers licenses to 20 million illegals things are going to get way worse for US trucking.

Theoretically it exists for any kind of profession, but the employer in US has to prove that they can't find a candidate here in US for that position, so in real life no truck drivers come here on H2B visa.
