    All right. Unpolitisizing. That friend of mine, with old Cascadia, reported to have had a good week. He grossed 7k in 8 days on 3000 miles. It was nice to hear for a change, maybe rates are going up, while diesel goes down too.

    A few months ago, I was in Vienna and it looked like it was more Syrian and Afghani than Eastern European.

    Had a conversation yesterday with an applicant. I asked the owner Operator why he wants to leave his current company. Stated that rates are too low for the lane that he’s been doing Michigan to Indiana and back. I offered 3 to 4 dollars a mile running Midwest to Midwest and Midwest to East Coast. He replied, “ I don’t do East Coast.” He wanted consistent good paying freight traveling back-and-forth from Michigan to Indiana or Ohio. ….. Wellp, can’t help you then. Sometimes what you want doesn’t exist for you. May have been great when rates were high, but when things change sometimes you have to be dynamic. Being disappointed about rates and wishing for something that isn’t gonna happen is not a great plan…

    Glorified company drivers pretending to be motor carriers are a dime a dozen. He should just lease on with a steel carrier and accept his fate.

    Yeah man I finally got fed up with owner ops and just have company drivers anymore. People want the pay and success without putting in the work and sacrifice. Waste of my time babysitting people all the while them growing jealous of my company but yet they don’t want to run on their own.

    Yea, I think you’re right. I think a lot of owner ops out there forgot it’s a job. Some of the guys are just trying to continue the fantasy of buying a truck and buying a job. They refuse to understand this line of work is a business and businesses make decisions to thrive not to fulfill fantasies. Mostly referring to guys that got in when they going was good. I’m sure the old timers that have weathered some storms in the past kinda understand the game.

    Yes, it is a job and if they don’t want to do the driving job then they must get their own authority and do the job of buying trucks, hiring drivers, putting them on profit able freight, and collecting the money. If they don’t want to do that job any longer then they must increase their size enough to mentor a manager and bring them up. Then, go from there. It’s all very simple yet complicated but absolutely doable. However, it’s easier to ##### and moan then act and accomplish.
