Mostly from my phone. All rate cons came to me and got signed by me, then I forwarded to the carrier. I was shown how and trusted to do set ups with any broker as long as their credit was good. I seldom ever did so because during normal business hours 7am-5pm the office was there and I got them to deal with it. But late night after hours I was able to do it if I needed a load and we weren't set up. Every company I've ever been leased at allowed me to do set ups there's no regs or anything against it. I wouldn't lease on anywhere that wouldn't. I understand that's not how it works for most guys leased on.
Rates are crashing and fuel to the moon!

But since you've decided to lump me into that category I must point out to you that you're NOT a man of your word. A man who gives his word sticks to it regardless of whether it's in writing or verbal.
In fact, you're the reason every little detail has to be written and signed in blood. Because when people fail to live up to their end of the agreement then it gets legal.
Why sign those agreements if you don't agree with them?
Why not negotiate terms that you're able to honestly follow instead of breaking them?ElmerFudpucker and Oxbow Thank this. -
I figured you were literally signing papers and negotiating etc etc. I just have a hard time wrapping my head around brokers being ok with someone not explicitly authorized in writing to sign legal documents.
I'm surprised the brokers especially large 3PLs like CHR not asking for a legal doc from the carrier authorizing you to sign Agreements and/or enter into contracts.
Seems that without that in writing if something was to go sideways on the move a crafty carrier could easily claim you didn't have permission nor legal grounds to enter into any sort of contract type scenarios.Last edited: Nov 23, 2024
Accidental Trucker, ElmerFudpucker and Oxbow Thank this. -
I read a lot what those agreements terms negotiators, contract law theoreticians on social media have to say, a lot. They think they can cross out some paragraphs, and that will hold in court. 99% of times, especially in the difficult times, whrn you attempt to really negotiate terms, they hang up on you. End of discussion
If I remember your previous posts, you're not in the business anymore. You're another failure, preaching on the business side of the forum. Why should I or should anyone at all care what you got to say? You failed to be an owner operator, that's a fact. You can take your opinions and advice where the sun does not shine.
And I used your previous reply to speak generally, hoping to have ended this without further escalating. I was not referring to specifically to you. I know you're not a Walmart driver. But you wanted to have attention and aplause in the mutual admiration club. There you go... -
I thought you said you were done?

Looks like you guys need adversaries to have fun. I wish I could help more but I don't have all that time but do have other hobbies to persue too. -
Those broker-carrier agreements are one sided, rigged, depriving owner operators and carriers of any rights, legal documents, not vows of honor signed by blood.
If there's a legal recourse for the broker, I am ready, I am there, not escaping consequences...yet, never happened.
The problem is that for the majority, if they don't sign it, they won't get loaded, so they sign it unconditionally. Since they all sign it, and there's only 2 loads per 1 truck, there's no room nor time for rephrasing or excluding the whole clauses and paragraphs. For this to be legal, they have to rectify and sign it too. Good luck with that.
Looks like it is a big deal, even bigger than marital vows.
How many of you, hypocrites, screw other women, while being married to your wife?
How many of are behind child care or behind your drivers pay? That's what matters in life...
So what that I happened to be in those occasional, more often than not, spontaneous discussions about possible freight procurement at the shipper site, even if a brokered load brought me there? So what that I could take advantage of it? That's America and capitalism 101.
Surreal this thread. Surreal. -
I was greatful for the trust placed in me on that. In many years I never once fell for or booked from scammers. One of the biggest things about this business or any is it's going out on a limb and based on trust. If you can't be trusted with something small probably you're not very reliable in other ways.Last edited: Nov 23, 2024
