Yeah man most definitely. Not everyone keeps up an older truck like you and Dune T do. Just think of all the people running new ones doing practically zero maintenance. Well, those same type of people are doing it with older trucks and keeping it together with duck tape and baling wire. If it’ll go, drive it until the wheels literally fall off.

when I rebuilt my older reefer after it got hit to keep as a spare, I started looking at maybe just buying a newer fleet spec trailer over spending the money on the old one, I was shocked at how the supply crunch had basically let everyone turn even 5-7 year old trailers into nothing but scrap,

Please see the recent decsion against Wabash - age of equipment definitely does play into liability, particularly when there are new 'safety features' or build standards.

    Rideandrepair and 77fib77 Thank this.

I will check into that, but when we tried different Vin numbers with my insurance agent, to see if there gonna be a price difference, liability price was not changing, only physical damage

Don't even waste your time. He probably doesn't even own any equipment nor ever has. Your agent gets paid well to handle your needs.

Wabash got hit with a $462m judgement because the rear bumper failed on a 20 year old trailer. I can’t recall if the trucking company was even named in the lawsuit or not.

Broker asked me on Friday for a pic of my o/o's 1998 truck. I think he likes old Volvos even more than I do :D

He's probably trying to prevent double brokering.
