Yeah, for their size, that's probably not a bad way to handle things. I couldn't pull that. Our blacklist is for particularly egregious things, like... taking loads hostage, or drivers going rogue and running to the opposite end of the country. Of course, we don't see that too often, and generally we try to maintain good relationships with the carriers we work with and pay within terms to keep those relationships up.
Rates are low so sometimes you just have to tell the agent NO

When I was a kid, we played that game of holding feet to the fire. We were tough kids, the shoes always caught fire and we were laughing...I gotta try it again some time.
Try that game with nowadays kids...bunch of suburbian pusssies. Hard to find a kid with a black eye any more.
Yep!!!! We must have been some bad arse kids....!!!!!!!! LOLLast edited: Nov 7, 2019

It's a weird state of affairs out there. Stuff that I thought was normal when I was growing up would get me in hot water with Johnny law as a parent now.StrokerTSi, Rideandrepair, BoostedTeg and 1 other person Thank this. -
Heres a Good one- In 1979, I was playing in the Backyard with my friends, All of a sudden,An Alley Apple came airborne into our yard and hit a piece of wooden lawn furniture and put a hole in it...An Alley Apple is a half a Brick(Solid chicago brick)
Of Course we go running inside to tell my mom...We knew where it came from because the kid 2 houses over was laughing about it over there.
My Mom walked over there and spoke wit the parent (mom).......20 minutes go by, I get on my bicycle to go for a spin and I drive by the house and I could Hear the Boy that threw the Brick Getting His ### Ripped up by his mother- Kid was Crying and Screaming Bloody Murder. I Was Happy and Scared both hearing it. ,lol....

I booked a load 10 days ago on a Friday at 5:30 pm. Had all but given up, willing to sit all weekend. If needed. I called on a 273 mile load, told the Guy I’d do it for $800 just to move the Truck. It should pay that much, being a short trip, anyway. He tried $600, $650, $700,$750,$775. I held my ground, finally He said $799, just to be under his max allowed on the load. I laughed and agreed. Fair enough, who knows the truth? He saved face, and got the load moved. Turned out to be only 7 pallets. I’m not bragging, I know it’s not big money, but it’s better than $1400 for 1000 miles, on loads that usually average $1800. Mostly Landstar, XPO, and TQL, double brokering the loads. Those three are really pushing the envelope. I hope it all blows up in their faces. It will, eventually when they can’t provide the Service. Freight always comes back, after times like these, the cut throats only benefit for a short time.

I couldn't find a back haul from Dallas so i went on JBHunt 360 and found a random moderately light load coming back to Southern California so my driver wouldn't sit there for over a day. A JBHunt broker booked it for $1900 and i received the rate confirmation. 10 minutes later the original broker that posted that load called me and said he can't do it for $1900 and i told him i already received the rate confirmation and hes like sorry i need to cancel this load i don't have much in it unless i wanted to move it for $1850. I told him ill move it for $1875 and he agreed and resent the rate confirmation again. The first broker that booked it for $1900 actually called me a few minutes later and apologized and said he's going to hand this situation over to a manager. The following day i received a new rate confirmation for $1900. I never experienced something like this with any broker so it's pretty obvious they're bleeding out as well.
