You know who else and they would be easier to get into is Northern Haserot they have a mixed fleet of 28' trailers and straight trucks here in Cleveland they seem to have an equal amount of both, however I tend to see there straight trucks more then there tractor trailers. They are usually looking for Class A and B CDL drivers they have a warehouse in Columbus I think and are pretty heavy at least here in Cleveland on the straight trucks even though they do have a lot of tractor trailers, they are union and it's probably a wash pay wise between Haserot and RDP.

Haserots bigger company, they have a broader customer base, meaning they would have some institutional places too, like nursing homes and maybe a medical center here or there and possibly a school although I haven't seen Haserot at many schools, seems that GFS and Sysco and that company from Canal Fulton, Ohio that does Dairy Queen have most of the schools covered.

See RDP is different from the rest in the fact that there customer base seems to be 100% commercial accounts, they do not seem to be the company that is marketing them selves to nursing homes, hospitals, schools and prisons.

They are at the core an italian foods supplier that has branched out to some other stuff and good for them, but I would venture to say you work for RDP you'll be going all over sure, but you'll be going to the trendier popular places like Late Night Slice etc etc. Probably won't be going to any schools or nursing homes.

I'll admit I don't know much about the dump truck business @Big Don says the aggraget business can stink at times.

I don't know if dump trucks are busy all year or if it depends on the company and what kind of work they can get. I know some do road construction and others haul road salt in the winter and others do sand and stuff for oil field work, but truth be told, I don't know if the dump truck business is good bad or indifferent.

What I do know is this, chances are while the food business is hard work, generally speaking there is not really a feast or famine sure we have our peaks and valleys, but were usually pretty solid and unlike the dump trucks where it's just the owner of the company trying to get work from where ever when ever, food companies have steady contracts with clients and have sales people who are out every day looking to sign up more customers or looking to do more with the customers they have (in theory at least) I don't know for sure, because there's a lot you can do with dump trucks, and there is plenty of year round dump truck work, but I would say your food distributors are probably a tad more stable.

Even your smaller distributors like Atlantic from Canton, Ohio and RDP which is bigger then Atlantic they don't sit there and go "Up there's no work today." RDP is not new they have been around a good amount of time, they have I am sure experienced some expansion and contraction pizza chains do tend to come and go, but when one goes another one comes and pizza is a huge HUGE! business and a high volume pizza shop buys a lot and RDP seems to have a good grasp on that market so I would say they are a fairly stable company and there kind of too small and too specialized to be bought out by like Sysco, US or GFS because they dabble in kind of a niche market specialty arena so there probably a pretty safe bet. You show up leave the warehouse on time make all your deliveries and get back in one piece I don't see why you wouldn't be able to have a fairly stable regular job there with some vacation and health insurance and probably some other fringe benefits as well.

I will look into RDP and Haserot. Thanks for giving me some suggestions! I might join Hank Hill and start selling propane and propane accessories.
