great read! Must have been nice for you guys to all be together. Even though you didn't know eachother in real life you had something in commen from the the start. Hope you all have a great time with your new career. Keep us up to date with the journey when you get out on the road. I want to go flatbed right from the start and am 90% sure I will go with Maverick (if they will have me). I did call and talk to a recruiter from Rhoel this afternoon though. Same thing as what Maverick wants. Start school then apply with them and hope to be hired on before school is over. Good luck to you all, thanks for keeping us up to date.

Day 12 is in the books, 3 days left. I drove about 60 some miles today and did some backing. I started feeling a little bit of a cold and cough coming on so not out of it but just a little under the weather. I can imagine the fabulous weather here in marshfield may have helped this along. Driving in our truck is going well.. it is not mistake free. Everytime we make a mistake in the truck we seem to learn from it and the idea is to have a remedy or it makes us think a little more not to do it again. When I say mistake it is usually a little shifting issue, or splitter up/down, or turn radius, nothing huge but we always try to get better.

Our group is pretty tight as a class and everyone is supportive and we want each other to succeed.

On friday, if we pass the bar that is set we should be offered employment with Roehl although there is no guarantee. A number of things must be passed, licensing, testing, medical, etc.... Also, over the past 2.5 weeks the trainers have an idea of our work ethic and that may play into it to. I assume if your absent without excuse or messing around or not doing what your told that might not be something good in your favor. I think a big benefit of obtaining the school from Roehl is that one is trained on the equipment that you will be using and you also learn how Roehl does things.."The Roehl Way". I think this is a big advantage from going to a non affiliated school and heading to Roehl for orientation. Although we have only a few days left at RDTC, we still all have a ton of learning to do and I am confident that Roehl has set up it's program so that this education continues even beyond phase 3. Still excited, still enjoying this, still staying really busy....

Good news...our popcorn popper freight-shaker truck did the 65 mph speed limit today. I even passed a pickup truck at that speed, the driver was 90 years old and we had a 20 mph wind at our back...but it was great!

thanks for answering my questions, this might be the last question i have.......I was just wondering how did you guys study for the CDL permit before attending RDTC? What materials did you guys use? What was on the test? And how long was the test? Thanks!

I had to take the Michigan test to get my permit. I took the practice tests online through this site and another. I also read the state cdl manual, applicable sections. I also reviewed that manual before taking the test. Just went to Michigan SOS (DMV) and paid the money and took the 3 tests, air brakes, combination, and general. don't worry about endorsements or that other stuff right now.

Wednesday is done, drove another 70 or so miles out the gate.....drove smooth, it was nice. I am currently a victim of the Marshfield Plague, a severe cold that got worse today, i feel like crap. Got more meds at Walmart, just need to finish tomorrow and friday. Today we drove out by some big hills, the area would have been really pretty on a summer day or in the fall with the window down and wearing some comfortable seasonal clothing. Training in the winter weather is not that bad, it just more of a nuiscance. Both trucks met up somewhere for a buffet as a group, it was nice. Then we drove back different routes. Dale had us stop at a Roehl yard somewhere and we watched dale and two other drivers pull out a concrete truck and trailer that was stuck in the lot in ice ruts. Still really icy and snowy everywhere in Wisc it seems. Our whole class drove well today, training is great. End of day had the hair test done, not a big deal just took a few minutes on the way to the hotel. We have to check out of the hotel friday morning, I'm not sure what time we get released on Friday. I think we have a minor physical skills test, nothing that scares me at all, should be a breeze. Prolly some paperwork and then I'm assuming what to next to get with the trainer for the next phase. I'm beat guys, this colds got me down. Hopefully I can get this out of me in a few days of reset.

Sorry to hear "the bug'' gotcha goblue!!

    Hang tough, it's almost over!

As I've said before, thanks so much for taking the time to share your experience with "us, on the outside looking in"...

Now get some rest! (I shall say a prayer on your behalf to have the strength to endure)

    God bless.

Not sure...we were in Wausau must have been near that, Dales got us going down all sorts of different hiways, I get so lost, he knows his way around there. It was just off the highway and looked like we were turning into a residential area, then a left to the yard. There was one of those big WOW lots across the street.

Good news, out by noon, that would be nice...i need to get better before heading out with my trainer.
