The trucks inspection station security personnel are disrespectful, rude and arrogant. I'm not sure if I am complaining to the right department, or if anyone even bothers to look at these unless they get filed for tort, but I have had it up to here with the border employees and the truck station employees. Recently they were yelling at me for parking a foot away from the scale, after that they THREATENED to suspend my truck for 3 days if I did not stop "talking over them". There were 2 gentlemen (if one can call them that) working at the time, I am assuming this is for legal reasons so the other can provide backup witnessing if the other gets any heat. However I will deal with them shorty, have received their names and ID #'s and I will not stop until they are both fired and dealt with. For some reason government workers think they are above regular citizens. To finish the story, in the end they suspended my truck for 3 days which I will have to pay for "parking" and charged me $500 for not having my bill of lading, (NOT THE BORDER, THE MTO TRUCK INSPECTION STATION) Oh, they also continuously asked why I didn't have any meal receipts and how I could have gone to the US, and god forbid NOT bought anything. Geez like I would hide $50 in taxes so I could waste my time getting abused by them. This is not over. The border officers also constantly check my loads and make my company pay for their "inspecting". I'm not sure if the bigger companies have some sort of deal with the MTO to ruin smaller businesses or not, but I am posting this so people can learn the truth if they are blind.

I can understand your being angry, but, what does their pay vs your pay have to do with any of it? Am I missing something?

You must be talking about Canadian officials. I ran into similar treatment crossing into Canada with a load to Burnaby. I still have'nt figured out what that was all about. The guy was screaming curse words and flapping his arms up and down like he was trying to fly. He fined the company $150.00 for some minor something about the trailer & then let me go deliver the load.

I take it this happened in Ontario somewhere. Only place I ever got attitude was crossing over at Queenston. -
I always get excellent service at Queenston. It is the gestapo's at Windsor at that offsite place that are really bad. They will treat you like a dog there. God forbid you need to ask them to use the restroom or anything there. It is as if you should have known they were going to interrogate you for hours on end.
As for the billing process you can bill that back to who you got the load from. I am not paying for that, that is the customer's responsibility. I used to cross there frequently and only got hauled in once over about a 3 year period.
The Canada Customs border guards don't care about your meal receipts. There is one nazi at the scalehouse that wants to know the exact date time and place, which toilet you took your last dump on. I will say this - they typically won't give you the third degree unless you roll through there and they can see you are tired. I do believe their is some communication between the border guards and the MTO.
I am not sure why you didn't have a BOL. Everything on any truck must have a BOL. You should know that by now.
As for their pay, why is that any of your business whatsoever? And if you are making $12 per minute, you should be able to retire from truck driving not too long from now. The pain will be over then.Lonesome Thanks this. -
Why is this in the Questions from New Drivers section when you have 10 years exp?
-
Don't bring personal problems to work. Always treat them nice no matter what. Kill them with kindness. Godbless!

eehh What border ??

I've never been into the great white north, but in my experience when you treat dot like you are superior, they will show you that you are not, conversely, just the other day they had the opertunity to write me for something minor and did not. Act professional, treat officials with the respect they (at the least feel they) deserve, and things go a lot smoother.
You werent making $12/minute with your truck out of service. They won.
