Well I have finally reached that point of boarding the plane and heading to Dallas for orientation in the morning! Started back in November searching for my next venture and OTR trucking is where I landed. Got my CDL and all my endorsments and then had to decide on where I wanted to get my experiance from. I searched all these threads for months, called companys in my area, talked to recruiters from all over, applied to many companys, got all sorts of pre-hires and have made my choice of Stevens.
Bag is all packed and wife is dumping me off at Detroit metro in the morning. I look forward to meeting new people, learning all I can and getting the chance to travel and live out of a box! LOL!!! I know I am a newbie even thou I am 45 years old. I accept that cause I know I have a lot to learn. But ya know what.. I'm ready and I have a good attitude! Say all you want about the company I am going to work for. But you have to start somewhere. Werner, Swift, Prime, TMC, Schnider, Celadon I could go on. Someone always has something bad to say or they got the shaft or what ever. Thats fine, but you have to pick a place and get started somewhere and then after you get time in you can have better choices.
I will try and up date this as time goes on and I hope to help someone with my experiance as I begin my journey. Thanks to everyone on here that trys to help us newbies out! I wish you all the best and hope someday I can buy you a cup of coffee and share a story with ya!
Be Safe!!!
Ready to leave for Stevens

Congrats man! Good luck on your endeavor! As long as you have a good attitude and work ethic you should do just fine there. I wouldn't be concerned about it. Hell if anything I would be concerned seeing my wife a handful of times a year, but hey that's trucking. Good luck man, keep us posted!

Congratulations and good luck to you. I've heard good things about their student "finishing" program (on the road training). I just pulled a load for them and it was all smooth with no issues. Seems like a decent company with some pretty nice equipment too.

good luck and keep us in the loop

Hey thanks everyone for the wishes! Got to our hotel (which leaves a little to be desired) today and went and got some food to make it thru for a couple days. Looking forward to getting orientation started tomorrow. My room mate is from Colorado, pretty decent guy. My age to which is nice. Ready to get this new road started!!! If I get time in the next couple days I will update. Gotta couple of late nights this week.
