Doesn't happen that way often,And I'll tell everyone why
The party whom hired the broker 9 times out of 10 wants their freight charge distributed in good taste.

What I mean by that is If lets say-A load going from a to b was quoted at $3k by the Broker to handle this move- It would be a Very High Risk to try and move it at $1500.00 To the Carrier. (example,in good taste the carrier should get between $2600-2800 on the move)

Why? If word gets back at the customer (Which i've done a few times) That relationship can be terminated for that kind of practice.

I can see that working out with a Spot Move where the broker could care less about future business....But it doesn't happen regularly- I Assure you that.

Sure its a free market- But You will pay the Price in the long Run for Distributing freight charges in an ugly,Tacky manner.

And that is why I am investing so much time in this thread. About to relaunch myself after a 2 year debacle of leasing. Mistakenly thought that they (there were 3) would be more able to provide freight than I could come up with in 2015.
    Things change.
I am looking at my decals right now and they go on this afternoon.
More experience, more contacts and more input such as yours is going to make a big difference.

If you're posted your truck = you need a load.

    Not necessarily...

Sometimes posting your truck is just a fishing expedition.

When a broker says, "I'll have to call the shipper and see if they'll accept your offer, I'll call you back in bit...", you know they will not call you back.

Had this kid from TQL pull that one on me on Friday afternoon. Wanted me to run a dry van load from Eugene, OR to Texas, 2200 miles for $3,700. Told him $4,500 or no go. I really didn't want to go to Texas anyways ;-)

Hm. What are the last 3 loads you did off a board? Please share as an example for the thread.

    Mine

$1950 on 156 loaded miles, out of CT, stepdeck no tarp.
$1300 on 112 loaded miles, out of ct, van.
$1200 on 27 loaded miles, in ny, stepdeck no tarp.

They all called on my posted truck.

Also: I couldn't cover so I put some fellas on; $10,000 Allentown pa to port Arthur tx stepdeck no tarp x5. Also based on a call on my posted truck.

Load board freight encompasses maybe 5% of what I do if I guessed: I'm not sitting in front of my quickbooks to verify that, but I bet 5% is a higher % than reality.

Im using Truckersedge and it's around $50 per month. It's light version of DAT but it has everything you need, you can search for loads and post your truck.

I'm surprised he didn't counter your offer with $2500. I call on their offers and they always have some bs excuse like a "new guy wasn't authorized for that amount, can you accept less?"

    izifaddag and Oldironfan Thank this.
