Oh goodness just made a mistake, but it's all good. I didn't pay enough attention to the truck stop map. I stopped in Tehachapi, CA at the Loves. I still had 3 hours and some change to drive, but I knew I was still 100 miles short of making it to receiver without another break. I should of stopped at the Tulare Loves. I was shooting for the Ripon Loves, but that was too far out of reach. I have only been fueling at Loves lately. So only have shower credits for them. So instead of stopping and wasting 30 to 45 mins to shower. I would take the 8 hour break which would give me the time needed to make it all the way to receiver without having to make extra stop.

If it all works out should be at receiver at about 1am. Hopefully they will take it off. If not will have only a few hours left until the 34 is complete if they take it off at the appointment time of 4am on 22nd. Still not pre planned so hoping they can get it off and I can get back to rolling. Will have about 35 hours left on the 70 to get a decent run. If not they have a variety of restaurants in walking distance and lord know's I need the exercise. Time to hit the showers. Have a blessed week.

Good deal made it to receiver at 12:19am Pacific time. Did the whole trip using split sleeper birth. Didn't have too, but decided to change it up a bit. Wasn't able to get my 13hr or 777 miles beat but still had fun. 7.8 mpg not bad either. Here goes a few snap shots. 1st time using camera on this laptop so bear with me. picture000.jpg picture001.jpg

Will check to see if they will unload me in a few hours. I did forget it was a holiday so hopefully that won't throw a monkey wrench into things. Night night and or Good morning.

Well doesn't look like I'll be unloaded today. Got up at 4am and seen another one of our trucks going through the gate. I knew that must be the one who had a delivery for today. So I went back to sleep and checked in a couple hours later and he told me if someone was late or missed their appointment. He would notify me. Looks like the guy who got unloaded still doesn't have a load either, because he is at the other end of the street with his trailer doors open. Hopefully there will be some freight moving tomorrow. I'm going to see if I can't find a new restaurant or just stick to what I know. Anyway hope you all are having a great day. God bless

At the present time 58 hours and 29 minutes off duty. Getting loaded going to Medford Oregon only 307 paid loaded miles. Only my 3rd time I believe going to Oregon in my almost 3 years here. Haven't been on I 5 North of Sacramento heading to Oregon in like 10 years. Get to see some new scenery. Not sure where I'll end up after this. Hopefully heading East with big miles. Anyway. Be cool on your stool and have a great day.

Made it to Oregon. 8 miles from the receiver. Didn't really see a place to park. So hit the Petro. Appointment's not until 8am. One of the drivers who loaded with me said he's been here, and it took them a few days to get him a load out of here. Hope that's not the case, but will plan for the worse. Was rainy day, but still enjoyed all the tree's. I remembered last time I came through it was snowing like crazy. Well time for a nap. G nite

After sitting 2 days Finally got a load. Doesn't pick up for another almost 2 days but I'm going to head on down anyway. Also delivers after pay cut off, but will hopefully be able to get it off Wednesday. Not sure what's up with all these long delivery times. I guess customers just don't want the product. Here's preplan.

    Loaded 1079 empty 307
Pick up in Sacramento 1/28/13 1330
    Deliver Albuquerque,NM 1/31/13 0700

Gota roll so be back in a few. Heading back to Where I started the week.

Wow Can't believe it's been 3 days. Was great to put a few miles on the truck. Receiver wouldn't take load today. So a big ol 300 miles for the week. Sure would of liked to get that 1600miles and 3 days of layover pay put on this check. But just wasn't in the cards. So 1300+ miles to begin the week won't be too bad. Especially If I can end the week. Close to 4000. But I think that would be a stretch. Anyway time to get in the Good word. You guys have a great day. God bless.

Assuming average intelligence, roughly how long should it take to be proficient at finding the best route? Also assuming you aren't locked into a route by your company.

I mean, take this highway for x reason, avoid that one for x reason...I would think years.

The best routes are usually done by actually driving them. A good route for me. May be a bad route for you. Also depends on how much time you have for a certain load. If you have time. Ya you can cut through the woods and hit a few small towns and traffic lights. If you are pressed for time you would more then likely if available try to stay on the route which is mostly interstate. Also depends if you are an owner op or a company driver. The owner op wants to limit his expenses so taking the 50 lights and 20 towns instead of the toll road would help him out. So as you said years. Also since newer highways are always being built. A route that you wouldn't take 3 years ago may have mostly bypasses around some of the congested parts of the city. Guess this is why its so fun for those of us who love OTR. Nothing stays the same. It's always changing. Have fun.
