I like the Cummins x15 performance but don't get one with an automatic transmission because they are junk and ruin all the good aspects of the engine performance. The best choice if you are going automatic is DD15 with the DT12.

Thanks. My personal thought is that the ECM had been failing for a long time, but not to the point where it was failing its internal logic check, and that was causing the majority of the issues due to the engine not firing correctly. It's been running MUCH better since I replaced the ECM. Saw a jump in fuel economy, too. Still, I don't trust the engine at all. I've got one more year to pay on it, then it's gone. If I can't find someone willing to buy it before then. At the moment, I'm debating between a Volvo with the D13 or a Kenworth with an MX-13. Planning to buy new this time. LolMagoo1968 Thanks this.

Volvo is proprietary. Hard to find parts and mechanics with the tools.
Best to stick with the 3 majors.
And so far. I'm liking mx over the 3 majors. Have yet to add a drop of oil or coolant or have the engine worked on. In some form. At 650k.Ssgtkevin Thanks this. -
Gotta have the shift points changed on the transmission. It's in standard mode from the factory so unless you tell your salesperson what you're wanting it set to when it arrives at the dealer, it's going to be gutless out of the gate.

I have completely changed my mind on this since getting into a custom 2021 Volvo VNL 860. I don't know exactly what they did to the D13 engine in this rig but it performs better than any other engine that I've ever driven, on road performance pulling as well as exceptional fuel economy. Not to mention that it has the I-Shift transmission which is unequivocally the best automatic transmission you can get in a semi. I really don't want to drive anything else now.
