Yes but Spot rates also can be just non contract freight. This can be found on Central as well as from a companies normal shippers on non contract lanes.

My guess is that's average $30k per month with a reliable truck. Is that good or not is debatable.

Banker, how do they pay company drivers on a short 30 mile round trip that will probably take 3 hours?

Every company is different. Some the revenue is high enough on short trips to make it pay very good. Other companies pay a bonus amount to do short trips. Some companies don’t pay enough to make it worth it. I don’t do them but have owner op co workers that do very good with short trips. Short trips generally don’t work for new carhaulers because the load time would make it very unproductive. An experienced carhauler can do very good with multiple loads a day.

I am a company driver running 25%. I make over 100k with a 5 car Sun Country. Means over 400k revenue. If l saw an ad for 318k for an OO, I would laugh at them.

I have been leased to one of those companies for nearly 7 years that supposedly has posted those numbers. As already stated those numbers are an average and also account for the fact that most of us don’t work anywhere near 52 weeks a year. It’s very likely you are hauling spot market freight which is currently killing it and likely can gross double what I do in a week. I will still stick to my contract freight and predictable lanes netting $6,000-$7,000 a week home every night. I live very well with a $300,000 gross to the truck after the carriers cut considering the hours I work. I have no desire or need to work the hours it takes to gross $400,000-$500,000 a year but the work is always there if I wanted it. If I only gross $6,000 a week it means I only worked a partial week. Laugh at my gross if you want, but I won’t be trading work or income with anyone. E1A2D4C2-1AB3-42BE-81FC-A7E757141C4A.png 49862429-99CC-4F53-8205-DB5930C267A5.png

Cash flowed back yard renovation and still able to invest $1,000 a week towards retirement. It isn’t what you start with, but what you are left with that makes the difference. Hansen and Adkins has been very good for my life and after they recently renewed my favorite work for a 4 year contract I am not going anywhere soon. Not to mention $300k living in Elkhart IN will last you longer than $300 in Denver. I always laugh at broad gross revenue posts, because there are so many factors to consider it’s pretty much pointless comparing. It’s smarter to compare running mile revenue, but even with that there are factors

Also important to consider that someone in the later part of their career may not need the revenue they needed years ago. Maybe the first 30 years we worked hard enough that we can coast through the remainder of our years. The problem with comparing running mile in my opinion is that it gives your competition too much information.
