So you made around 80k your first year?
    Where was that?

He said 23.6 'year to date', which would project to over 40k in this year.

Like where? New drivers need exp first to find bigger and better driving opportunities.

Location notwithstanding of course there are options besides the OTR world for that. There's the LTL world if one will take you, and there are contract aggregate haulers that run dump trucks.

LTL companies here require one yr exp,Youre in LTL,does your company require exp? dump truck here starts out at 13.00 an hr,less then what the op is making now.Maybe where he lived they might pay more But do they require exp then what about when construction season is over then what.unemployment benefits don't pay much.

Not all require a year exp. Of course, it depends how bad they need help too. We used to require it, but that's since been changed...

Construction companies and contract haulers are two different animals. They do find ways to keep their trucks moving through the winter.

Of course not ALL require experience but the vast majority do. If the OP's husband can find a local LTL gig then that would be best for their situation. Again, the question is IF.

Construction does snow removal but still not all their drivers are required to work and very little hrs. Most good paying companies here require exp and they will not change their policy. Then there's are a few tanker outfits that train but again they want some driving exp.Considering what the op is making he better do plenty of research before taking the first company that'll hire him.
