I drove for a 18 months hauling milk in a tank up in Michigan
Found a clean and very well maintained but worn 97 International with the N-14 and a 13 speed
I can fix anything .
Minuim this truck needs to make it roadworthy as far as I am concerned, though many on her would say "Run It "
I have seen way too many trucks getting road service for tires to trust the retreads on the drives .
The steers are legal but worn
Tires and alignment and balance rings $6000
Brakes work and are legal but worn. Brakes and drums all around.
May as well pull the axles and inspect the bearings and put in new seals and Gear lube.
Another $2000 with me doing all the labor
The shift tower is worn and the motor needs new mounts $1000
Clutch has 300 thousand on it and the input shaft and bearing. $1000
Belts hoses oil change and filters , batteries are good but getting up there age. $1000
So I am at $11,000 with me doing all the labor
I wouldn't go out my own with a Emission truck. Wouldn't take one if you gave it to me.
I am on the fence selling the truck but truthfully I want to start working on it for my own personal satisfaction ...
I have plenty of money to do what ever what I want , but I don't feel going into winter as a new business entering a industry that is in downhill slide is a Smart thing to do right now. .
In the Spring if my old company I used to work for has some good contracts yet next year I might lease on hauling their boxes on my own to get my feet wet.
Get the truck making some money so it can pay me back and maybe earn enough money to buy a step deck if I find a good deal in the Carnage after this all goes down.
I am working on Plan C already.
Plan A was going to run Tugs in the Gulf of Mexico but the oil crash ruined that plan 5 years ago
Plan B trucking.
Reality of my logic

This statement tells me he ran the truck on the edge, just go and get it done, ****** the things falling off of it.Trucker indiana Thanks this. -
I also toss the 100K inframe situation.
Ive been thinking on it for some time. And the breaker for me is that documents are inframed and got it "Somewhere"
well...what's next?
Sometimes I think I must stand on the edge of a truck dealer and just laugh doing a pointing eney menie minie mo for all the good it gets. -
So u cover truck, maintenance, fuel and bobtail insurance right?

It all depends on the truck, and it sure helps if a guy knows the truck and even the owner. I know of at least one 15,000 dollar truck right now, I would buy before I bought anything newer that didn't have a big warranty.
I have a truck that I no longer run, that at most would bring 15,000, but again I couldn't replace it unless I had one new enough to have warranty, and it is worth more sitting if I ever need it than I could get out of it.x1Heavy Thanks this. -
