Man they cannot fire u for refusing to break the law. U shouldve pulled them ####in breaks when u was at 3 minutes. Told the trainer to go #### himself. I have a very short temper for idiots like that . if he wanted to get to the truck stop he shouldve been the big mouthed big boy he claimed to be and took the hit on his logs. Obviously he aint #### . yeah this industry is shady as hell. Look out for urself and nobody else. Every once in awhile u meet somebody worth talkin to but i tell ya they are few and far between anymore..

I would be pissed too. At myself.

You're doing well, BTW. However, you did fail at this part. Think dude...analyze your day.

"I don't get it Six, what am I missing?"

Who was the CAPTAIN of the ship?

    "Well, it was me, Six."

All day long, right? If Captain decides to stop, the ship stops. Period.

    "But Six, my trainer..."

I don't care if he was the governor of the State. That was your mistake. Own it. Don't worry about the HOS violation. Don't quit just yet, it's only RoundTwo. Now, go captain that ship.

    Luck in battle.

There is no such thing as safe haven in regards to HOS. It's a hazmat thing.
Also you cannot drive 11 hours and then start looking. The only times you can move after 11 hours is PC, and poor planning does not qualify.

As for the op. Simply stop. Worst they can do is fire you for not breaking the law. You are driving the truck, not the trainer and not the office. Don't wait until the 10th hour to start looking either. Have a plan and a backup in case of delays. If you get delayed longer than the backup, re plan. After all you are delayed so you might as well do something productive.
I've never let the company tell me to drive over hours. Stand your ground now, because if you don't they will just keep walking over you.
Also, you were looking for a job when you found this one, there is another one around the corner too....

Did you actually get a ticket at a scalehouse or just go over your 14? If you didn’t get a ticket it’s no biggie tbh

The trainer or the student? I'd give the trainer a f minus and the student a c .. Only cuz he doesn't know any better

If you don't feel the company is on the up and up I would leave before it gets worse. However I would have a adult conversation with all parties involved about why you are leaving. A one time violation isn't so serious. If it is the companies culture then leave. Just handle it like the business that it is. You will find the right fit.

I think he’s referring to the adverse driving conditions exception.

He knew. He allowed himself to be pressured into doing something that he knows is wrong. He will be words better next time.

Seems like an excellent driver, tho.

There won’t be another time. I’ll stop the truck anywhere. That’s my record, not the companies. Don’t F-with my logs anymore either, those are mine too.

    D.Tibbitt and TripleSix Thank this.
