Ya pressure makes for mistakes. After running over you're more tense and easier prone to accidents. Every time I'm pressured to do something it doesn't end well. My wife of course excluded. She pressures me to do about everything I do.
TripleSix Thanks this. -
I avoid mom & pop outfits. Worse experience in trucking was with one of those outfits.
If a company doesn't have a least a thousand trucks, I'm not interested.faux_maestro, MYSTYKRACER, DAX_ and 1 other person Thank this. -
Mom and pops are usually 2-50 trucks no? Midsize company is more like it.
I prefer a one man operation.
I am the boss, the driver, the dispatcher, the mechanic, the accountant, and the janitor. If anything gets screwed up I as a driver can always blame the other guy.
Having multiple personalities does come in handy.Last edited: Jun 26, 2019

To the OP: be proud holding to a professional standard- dont let low-lifes drag you down into their muck. You have integrity- that will always mean somethingfaux_maestro, singlescrewshaker, TripleSix and 1 other person Thank this. -

No one touches those logs but me. I don't care if it's on paper, chisled in stone or bled out with leeches. Its my #### logs.
Legally you sign that log at end of day, you fill out the #### thing. No one but the company office drone designated to audit your logs turned in for the last 8th day can try to spot violations etc.
It's my #### log trainer. you don't touch it.
I cannot endure trainers who are chummy with family who owns the outfit. It's a impossible situation.Intothesunset, faux_maestro, Lepton1 and 2 others Thank this. -
On a previous job, I was "ordered" to stop at a truck stop and buy a second paper log book. It was my 7th day out, I had 4 hours left on my 70 and I was 3 hours from the home terminal. He wanted me to reload as soon as I got back and head out for another 7 day trip. I said I wasn't interested in doing that. He said my job depends on it, and I said no it doesn't, because as soon as I get back I'll hand you the keys and quit. That's exactly what I did, and never regretted it.
Now that I run my own show and if I'm running a little late, I'll switch to PC to reach the destination when I have to. It rarely happens, but I'd rather have to explain a PC than a HOS violation.x1Heavy, Gearjammin' Penguin, motocross25 and 2 others Thank this.
