I hate to question your info, but six DUI's and still with a license ? Find that hard to believe. Something ain't right.
Aren't you a professional driver ? By definition a professional is better at his craft than an amateur, so I can understand holding us to a higher standard in our abilities. It takes a lot more skill to operate a commercial vehicle than a 4 wheeler. This is a reason truckers used to be looked at with respect. We were better at our craft. Now if you want to be treated like a 4 wheeler, OK with me. You will be thought of as a regular driver in my book.
I want to be seen as a professional driver, following professional guidelines as best I can, and if that takes a higher standard of compliance, so be it. -
multiple DUI's is possible. seen it. how,? no idea.
my state NC ,is looking to do away with the state inspection on auto's. first it will be the emissions test for newer cars. but they would like to see the whole process gone. they say people don't need "the gov", looking out for them, if my car needs a light I will fix it. YEAH RIGHT !! won't know it's out for 2 months more like it, if ever.
many states don't have a formal inspection process anymore. SC , Tenn i think.CAXPT Thanks this. -
Some want to be looked upon as steering wheel holders because they aren't able or capable of "mastering their craft"!Last edited: Sep 2, 2012

What is more amazing is when you see a police car with missing lights and nothing can be done.

"Now, play those same scenerios while driving your truck..."
You don't have to be driving your truck.
If you're driving you're car or motorcycle and yu have a CDL they'll throw the book at you.
You're held to a different standard because of mass media hysteria and politics. -
I said nothing about wanting to be treated like a 4 wheeler driver...I think the point of my post was that 4 wheeler drivers have it too easy and should be held to higher standards like we are, or at least have the current standards enforced. As I asked before, are you less dead if you are killed by a truck as opposed to a 4 wheeler? I used to run a couple cemeteries. In that time I buried 6 dui deaths, number caused by trucks...0. Number caused by dui repeat offenders in 4 wheelers...6.
And yes, he currently has 6 DUI's. It's public record. We have a friend who works in records in the courthouse. She told us for this latest one he pleaded to the court he needs to keep his license in order to keep his job and support his family, funny since he hasn't paid anything in child support in over a year. So the court fines him, sends him to ARD, and lets him go on his way. He hasn't seen his 11yo daughter since Easter. She calls me daddy now and I help raise his kids with their mama. Support his family indeed.
I am a professional driver. I can handle a 10 speed, pull a trailer, secure my loads, do my paperwork and run my logbook. Where does it say that because you are not a professional driver the laws do not apply to you, that you can make multiple mistakes over and over again until you eventually hurt or kill someone. If we are the professionals, why is it when there is a 4 wheeler vs truck accident the blame is immediately put on the professional driver, the master of his craft, rather than the amateur driver with little to no training who suffers little more than a slap on the wrist for breaking the rules?
Honestly the whole topic is philosophical since nothing will ever be done. I just find the whole thing very hipocritical.Radioflyer, CAXPT, okieboy and 3 others Thank this. -
OK, Gravdigr, fair enough explanation. I thought you were going the other way, be more lenient on CDL holders. No matter, 6 dui's is un-thinkable. Notify the MADD [ Mothers Against Drunk Drivers ] group, I saw them put pressure on a court to punish a habitual offender harsher. Philosophical ? Probably, but I believe the discussion of 4 wheelers and enforcement needs to be carried forward, as our traffic system becomes more and more crowded daily.

Never mind, you caught the difference of what you thought he said, with what he really said.

He's typically bigger and stronger than the woman.
4wheelers vs. big bigs usually don't end up well for the 4wheeler.
It's bias, it's a double-standard, get used to it.
