    Hello everyone. It's been a while since I've been on the forum but I could really use some help.

    Ive been off the road for 2 years now, and with only 5-6 months of experience I believe I will be required to go back through school. I don't have the $5000 for my local school so I am looking for a company that will train me and that I can make a decent living at. I loved my previous company as it was a small company and I made good money, I'd really love something similar. (Checked with them today, they downsized and only have 3 company drivers now, so they're out)

    I would also really like a company that will run me out west a lot (I'm from TN).

    Right now I am looking at Millis Transfer, as I have heard a lot of good things about them, however it seems that they do not run out west.

    Any suggestions that you guys have would help so much. I'm deep in debt and really need to get on the road and get into a better place in life. I am young, single, and I don't mind staying out for long periods of time.

    Thanks everyone!

    Do you still have your CDL? If so, you might want to try a Google search for companies with refresher courses. There are some out there.

    Looked at Maverick? They do reefer and flats, and seem to have a decent presence south. Can't help about running out west, because I tend not to leave the northeast.

    What kind of freight are you looking to haul anyway?

    @fishnman
    yeah, still have my CDL. Just the companies I talked with today said that because I had been off the road for 2 years that I would need the full training again. Kinda sucks, but I really need to go back on the road and make as much as I can.

    @JPenn
    havent checked maverick yet, I'll look into them. I pulled refer and dry van before. Really enjoyed it. Plan on taking one online class at a time as well to go towards my degree, so the load/unload time isn't as bad on me because I have something I can do. Never tried fbeds, would the money be a lot better for me on the fbed side? Money is a big big priority for me right now so that I can dig myself out of a bad situation (due to extreme stupidity on my part).
    -Biggest lesson learned so far in my 26 years, DO NOT go deep into debt for college or anything that you will see no return from! (Didn't know what I wanted to study so basically racked up tons of debt for nothing but an expensive lesson)

    Look at roehl. I love them. Pays good and you choose your home time. I'm currently in North Dakota. We run alot of Midwest but not alot of West coast. We're getting more business put that way thou. We take all levels of experience. Any questions message me. I'm a van driver on a deticated lane and train students 2 weeks outta the month.

    Schneider Bulk would be worth checking into. Probably send you through a refresher.

    R.E. West in Lebanon has their own training program and a refresher course. They list 48 states running and haul lots of hot water heaters out of AO Smith Company in Ashland City. They have several other accounts also.

    Southern Refrigerated Transport runs lots of West Coast and has their own training program. One driver posted he made it through the CDL training in 3 weeks. They send you a bus ticket to Texarkana and furnish a hotel room and 3 meals a day while in the CDL program.

    Midwest-Coast Transport has a training program and runs lots of West Coast.

    As Plenz3 posted, Roehl has a good reputation and he should know, he works there.

    Westen Express has flatbed training and refresher. The training is in Nashville & they run West Coast.

    Pride Transport in Salt Lake City.

    There's several other options for your situation, but I tried to list the ones that run West Coast as you are interested in.

    You do NOT need a refresher course. It is however a very good way for the company to make money. If you have a CDL and can pass a road test you are good to go. Before you pay for a refresher course get a local job with Pepsi, Coke, Lowe's, Home Depot or the like.
