A good compromise between a big hood and style, along with some advantages of aerodynamics is a kw t600, t660 and a pete 386 if you just absolutley have to have that brand stamped on it.

Apply online, at arrow truck sales, for example.

They'll let you know where you stand with financing.

    It's a start....

That is one ambitious undertaking when you look at the economy these days. The price of everything just keeps going up and the load on your back just keeps growing with no relief insight. We all can't have our cake and eat it too. The idea of owning your own rig is a serious investment and it's going to demand a lot from you. I will not discourage you from your dreams or wants but the best advice I can give you is to do the best research possible from every angle and be 100% percent sure when you make the final decision. Being an owner operator has only one way of doing it and that's doing it all the way. Good luck and I wish you success.

I was told having a hood truck that the less fuel mileage id get is like a luxury tax. Just like how a person buys a camaro with a v8 instead of a Prius. You don't really NEED the camaro, but it is what you want.

For me its not even really the brand name but rather a "hood". Id take a star car, classic xl, Coronado sfa, 389, 379exhd, w900L, marmon, 9900, any hood truck or one with a decent hood.

If you are buying a 389 or W-9...

$140K (minimum) + FET + sales tax + Shipping, etc... Bottom line $160K out the door. With good credit you need at least 10% down. Then insurance $4K down
So you've got $20,000 cash invested before you buy a trailer.
If your planning on buying a truck then leasing on to someone else dont bother, you may as well be a company driver.

Used truck? Good luck getting a 7 year old truck financed, because you know you cant buy a '08 thru '11 (DPF)...

This is a horrible time to try to be O/O.
I could get into what the bond market is going to do to our economy in January when taxamageddon hits but that is a whole other story ( you dont want to be a truck owner with no write offs).

one thing about credit scores. is that you have to basically go direct to the credit agency. any 3rd party websight will be higher then what your score actually is.

you say you have a 700. but when the finance compnay pulls up your score. they see a 600. i've also found that different sights will all have different scores. all being higher then what you really have.

taking out a vehicle didn't drop my score at all. and i took out TWO vehicles. now if your 30+ days late. now your dropping.
having a balance on your credit cards hurts your scores the most. a maxed out card will drop you like a rock. have your cards paid for IN FULL so that they show a zero balance. will get you the highest score.

i keep on my credit report. i know when the cards report to the agencies. so i make sure balances are paid for 2 days before they report to the agencies. and wait 2 days after the reporting date before using the cards again. it's a difference of 200 points between zero balance and maxed out balance between the two cards i have.\

it's also the difference in wether you get the loan or not and what rate you will get should you get approved. creditors start wincing if you have more then 1/3 of your card limit used up. full balance will surely get you a DECLINE

    Credit score can mean squat.

I told the finance guys to honestly tell me if having a 686 score (there copies held that) with a foreclosure was going to be an issue. Everyone of them claimed it wasn't an issue.

So far the reasons have been, too many miles on a 707k mile truck, even onei with athe documented inframeon with 480k on it. not enough experiens with over 8a years experience, not having a good business plan. Only ONE has been honest enough to tell me straight out it was the foreclosure 4 1/2 years ago. Despite my record also showing a fiscally irresponsible exwife accounts still on my records.

Now, if someone cares to share how one can get THAT crap off a report, I'd be interested in talking to.

I was told by a lender that id get accepted if i met all their requirements.

    -having a good business plan
-having a letter of intent, such as leasing onto a company
    -money down
    -at least 2 years experience

But I was told if i would be independent on my own authority than they wouldn't do it.
