Is it me or the quality of Maverick driver has seriously decreased in the past 2 years. You know , those drivers are actually not doing us a favor , since our CSA score slowly but surely is going up. Which means less and less green light at the prepass sites.
I am really getting overwhelmed by the number of stupid stuff some fairly recent Maverick drivers are doing on the road.
From pulling a trailer without a license plate during the CSA Roadcheck , to hauling a 20,000# coil with only 2 chains (not crisscrossed) on the top without a trip chain ?
Just today, a driver told me because he put 5 coils all of them touching together , he only needs 1 strap down the center on the coil in between. Quote "It won't move that way". That same driver told another one that he needed to make his 5 coils touch. YEAH. like he knew what he was talking about. That driver had to ask me how to secure them because they were 60in wide and no room for the binders.
a couple of weeks ago , a driver told me he doesn't need to gut strap a load that was 7 bundle high but less than 6 ft ??????
I've seen drivers putting 9000#+ coils on the deck of the trailer between the rack but didn't put enough boards to actually lift the coil of the deck. ( I guess to much work taking all the boards out of the trailer )
I thought that when you were hired by Maverick you signed 2 papers.
1. that you understood and learned the Maverick way of securing things
2. that you understood , read and acknowledge the FMCSR book.
Let's talk about trailer pre-trip
A driver that I swapped with told me he didn't know what was wrong with the trailer since he picked it up only a week before. When I ask about the hub cover Leaking he just plainly didn't care.
A few of month ago, a driver that swapped with me told me since the very obvious 1/2 inch deep cut on the sidewall was not leaking any air, so it was OK to pull.
Way back, A driver came to meet me with a trailer which was braking using the rivets of the brake shoes that were missing !!!
Come on... Is it the best that Maverick can do ? What are your stories ?
Really !

Hey Frenchy, was that load of 60" coils coming out of GalvTech in Pittsburgh? Or maybe out of Terre Haute? Just curious. I get that load that is why I am asking. Thanks.

Are U There Mommy? Or you really trying to educate your drivers on this Forum? Have you heard the old saying YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR? Too much money to train people,No funds to pay for Old timers they cost too much, $50 Tarp Job?,No overtime, No pay while setting at the dock, No medical, No Health Care? No Hope in hell to get up the ladder, Let the drivers do this crap paper work that your office people should be doing,I can go on & on &on Just be thankful that you have them and they are keeping you on the company payroll. You want them to be safe? Really? Really?RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRReally? Then Reward the safe drivers with a thank you or something they used to give us medals in the military When we did a good job what the heck to you give your drivers? wait I know More miles more Crap more points on their driving record Oh ya Screw up their DAC reacord? Hemm? When you value your people they will value your trucks and freight until then don't ask for what you haven't PAID FOR

My posting is to know if I am unlucky or if this is a trend recognized by fellow Maverick drivers ? No company is perfect and I am not expecting it from Maverick. Just that recently , the drivers ( trainee riding solo, or experienced drivers from other Co's) are making us look bad from our customers and from the DOT's point of view. -
Terre Haute. Never p/u 5 coils in Pittsburg, always 6 , I guess I am the lucky guy.

welcome to the new age trucker lol, jk its partly mavericks fault and the drivers themselves that just dont care and/or think they know it all! but frenchy if you care about your company and they way there heading maybe you should say something report them bad drivers with bad securement techniques. but remember the golden rule pics or it didnt happen. will it help the company by doing that who knows maybe they wont listen maybe they just dont care as long as the load gets to where its going. heck reporting them may save some ones life some day but it may also cause the company to not like you ie whistle-blower.
also could it be the trainers teaching students rookies badly? -
most of the drivers don't care. not just maverick. but i've seen a lot of locals also.
it's why we have the blitz.Blind Dog Thanks this. -
This is the very reason I am going to become a trainer. I want to produce professional drivers!
sewerman, jxu417, frenchy and 1 other person Thank this.
