Just out of curiousity, what's a ballpark figure on swapping ratios on Eaton rears...?? I'd like to go from 3:90 to 3:55. If I brought it to a shop with a mid-$80 labor rate, what would it cost (parts AND labor) and about how long would it take? Thanks...

If your rears are low mile, I would swap new ring and pinions. You can get Eaton gear sets for around $300 each. Add the pinion bearings and 10 gals synthetic, you could do it yourself for less than $1000 bucks. Labor for a shop should run somewhere around 800-1000 more. Based on 10 hours....in which it can be done...easily.

There is 685,000 miles on the truck...as far as I know, there aren't any issues with the rears mechanically. Just want to get my cruise rpm down. I'm not sure if I'm brave enough to tackle that myself...lol. Appreciate the input though.

I would wait until I had a problem with one of them before I replaced anything, unless I did it myself. At least until time to change lubricant. Shops around here will get you for around 9 / 10 hours to swap them both out.
