That is why I asked if the OP received CSA points. We might hire him if that was the only accident in 3 years IF his CSA record was okay.

Dash cams are illegal and enforced crossing certain bridges in NYC for sure, and probably other places as well. Just a thought.

I have decided to not bother with one for the time being

The "newest" safety device is actually a dash cam that records both the view to the outside front and the inside, the driver. It is designed to run a continuous "record loop" (both directions) and only "saves" video recorded for the time frame of 10 seconds before and 20 seconds after an impact or roll. Actually, it is a fairly sound idea to record both directional features....showing the traffic (or issue direction) in front of the rig and the drivers actions prior to and immediately following the incident.

The claim that dispatchers will be "constantly peeking in" is another exaggeration of the tin foil hat mob in my opinion. I like the idea, and will possibly be one of the "test trucks" with the device in my rig. The plan to simulate some "issues/events" to evaluate it's accuracy.

I saw a black box advertised in the J at Perrysburg, OH, that is what i meant, I also see signs crossing the Sound about cameras being illegal on the bridges and the enforced sign has now also been added.

I prefer not to be on camera, myself. but I appreciate the perspective of others

Not true. What about when someone cuts you off and slams on their brakes?
