Can anyone on here give me the mileage for a rebuild and in-frame on a series 60 Detroit engine. I have no particular reason other than my own curiosity.

And there is no particular answer.
It all depends on if the engine was abused. taken care of. What were the service intervals.... -
Just to give you a number. I would say a lot of people will say 750,000 miles is in the neighbor hood of the time frame for an over haul. -
Thanks guys for constructive answers.
AMPM,
What type of oil do you use in your engine?

Rule of thumb is to at least replace the bull gear every million miles. Usually at some point in time you will at least need a head gasket. If it is around 10 years or older, more that a million you are in the ball park.

Guys,
Is there such thing as a synthetic oil for trucks or is that the only version truck oil comes in? What is the bull gear HeavyD?
KH -
Yes there is synthetic oil for trucks. One thing I'm currently looking at & researching is the gulf coast filtration system.
