I was trained by a re-man shop on rebuilding them. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO RE-BUILD ONE YOURSELF!!!!! ... IT CAN KILL YOU, OR SOMEONE ELSE!!! ... NO JOKING HERE!

I pulled the gears and ball-screw apart on mine and did a complete seal kit. After assembling it 15 different times using the re-build manual, I started to realize that it was just too dangerous to do without proper training. I went to the re-man shop outside atlanta,ga and paid them to teach me. a single ball-bearing out of place (or out of order if they are worn), and it will lock up without notice. Sometimes several days later. The cylinder wals inside mine were scorred badly by the failed seal at the top (pieces of it ran through the unit scratching everything up), so i ended up replacing it in the end with a brand new one. Still I am glad I learned how to rebuild them tho.

Yep, great advise! Not worth killing someone and facing a lawsuit just because you wanted to save some money. Not something for a DIY'er!
