I'm not sure on specific companies, but I would definitely look in specific areas over others.
There are several states with "ban the box" and "fair chance" laws that require employers to consider the applicant before seeing their record.
Southern states, from Texas to Florida, have the most people in the court system. I would look in more progressive areas, most notably the west coast, northeast, and Great Lakes areas.
In southern states they'll give you a felony for nothing and don't care about the circumstances. I've gone through this myself. Its expensive and is practically extortion in many cases.
I would go through a staffing company and let them know your situation. They might be able to find you a position better then you can on your own. It might not be leasing or OTR. It might be something like farm work or local work.
I think local might be a better option or something driving-related but not in an 18-wheeler. There are exemptions and state employment law comes into play here.
If you can't find a CDL job then I'd take the same approach but do something like warehousing that is in the same industry so your experience counts. I would call first and even use a throwaway phone number (try Google Voice) in case they give you a bad answer or mark it on your employment record.
The legal system is screwed up, especially in the south. They'd push everyone into the streets if they could. I've reported over 30 crimes and none of them were solved and noone was ever charged. I'm a white male without a criminal record and come from a military family if it matters. It all depends on what that cop wants to do in that situation, if he knows the people, etc. 30 is not an exaggeration. I have 2 actual case numbers from my attempts at reporting crimes.
I would also look into expungement law and speak with your attorney about getting a deferred sentence or something similar so you can get the charge removed.
I'm currently going through this and got a job before the charges were actually filed, so I didn't need to mention it. It's an outright false accusation and I was the only injured party. I also had my cellphone stolen and they are not facing charges. I filed a police report and they refuse to investigate it since I'm facing charges. I was in the hospital over it. That's just how the legal system works.
I had thought about getting my own body camera so I could film everything to prove what happened since the cops apparently don't like me very much. I'm also planning on relocating to a better area. I would have by now but didn't realize you had to be in the "in crowd" to actually have legal rights in some states until I was older.Last edited: Sep 18, 2020

And if you do not give the carrier permission to do a background check, guess what will happen to your application? In this industry, it is never a good idea to hide behind privacy laws! It’s just that simple!BackwoodsGA Thanks this.

Staffing agencies hire cdl drivers with felonies.

I’m not going to defend That person. I’m just going to tell you I have personal knowledge of more than one Persons that have felony convictions, have twic cards, and routinely enter military bases. Sounds crazy sounds weird but it’s the truth! I’ve never actually took the time to count but within a 25 mile radius of my home there are about six or seven bases trust me felons do get on them on unescorted. I know one guy that drives a Rapid transit bus for HRT that was convicted of a federal sex crime Right now he enters military bases every day he drives a bus!BackwoodsGA and firemedic2816 Thank this.

I have old felonies from the 80s and I have a Twic and enter bases regularly. If it's been over 10 year's normally it's not a problem. In fact I have full firearms rights in ND.

Where to look?, how about Google?.
Sometimes when I am wasting time online I will do searches for people I remember from when I was a kid, just to see what they are up to now.
One guy popped up, with full details of his felony offense, date, excerpts from court transcripts, his DOC photo/ inmate id number and even his last known address.
All from typing his name into Google.
